you have fuses in 2 places - would I do a loop with 3 female connectors and a butt connector - like in the beginning of the thread (pictures) for these 2 fuses?

What do the little semi circles mean? I'm new to wiring diagrams but yours looks amazing, one of the most easy to understand wiring diagrams I've seen. Thanks again
You don't need a SPDT switch if you don't want it.
By having a SPDT switch you can have the switch in one position. That will allow the foot well lights to come on and off with the dome light. Meaning anytime the dome light is on, whether by the switch next to it or by opening the door or locking and unlocking the car, the lights will come on.

If you want the lights on while driving you would normally have to turn your dome light on. The SPDT switch will allow you to flip the switch to the other position while you are driving without having the dome light coming on.
If your dimmer switch has a full off position you can eliminate the SPDT switch, as shown in that video, but you would need to wire in a diode to keep the +12v from back feeding the Dome light. I can't say for sure how he wired it in that video as he does not explain it but that is how I would do it. He may have a dimmer switch that also has a bypass built into it to allow power from the dome to pass through.

Yeah I used two fuses to isolate both power sources. You can get fuses in a hold already and just wire it up or you can use two female connectors and wire it that way too. Either way works you just want to keep the power sources separate.

The half circles represent a wire going over the top or passing through the other wire. without it, it would appear as it the wires were connected. the half circle denotes it is bypassing the wire it is going over. It's easier to do that than it is to run a line all over the sheet to by pass other wires. Sometimes there is no way to reroute it so you just have to go over it in a diagram. In real life of course it's easier to understand once you get them all plugged in.

If you don't want a SPDT switch just replace the switch with a proper diode to prevent the back feeding of the dome light. You might be able to find a dimmer with dual inputs in which case the diode would be built into the dimmer.

If anyone has any better ideas please chime in and I can draw a diagram of it to help make more sense of it.

Thanks for the complement I appreciate it.

So for a fuse you can either do this

Or this.

You really don't want to use the version shown with uninsulated, female QD terminals on the fuse. If they touch each other, you have no fuse protecting anything.

I prefer the holders. Makes for a cleaner install. I much prefer a clean install.

You can use t but you would want to isolate them with electrical tape... but it gets ugly looking. Plus the holders are pretty cheap, no point in not using one.

The grey wire above the gas pedal worked perfect on my Dads 2012 convertible. Thanks for the info!

Sweet! Thanks for letting us all know! We personally haven't had a 12 vert yet. Done just about everything else but one so it's nice to know for sure when it does come in some day!

Thanks and
Ivan

Can Anyone tell me would be bad or okay if I wired it to my dome light AND to my traction control light so the trips can light during ride
I have a dimmer controlling it all so can I just run the 2 power sorces to the dimmer?

You would need to add a couple diodes, one for each source, so that one does not backfeed the other. There is a ring printed on one side of them that needs to be on the dimmer side of the wiring.

I'm planning to do exactly the same thing. I installed some remote control RGB lights, my thread here: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...b+led+lighting

Right now I run from the fuse box from the power outlet circuit, but that only works when the car is running. It would be great for them to fire up when the doors open so I'm planning to run another line from the mentioned dome light wiring under the dash.

sjmautoprod is right, I'll need diodes on each wire. A diode is just something you wire in-line and it only lets power go through in one direction. I'll post more pics when I get around to it if anyone else wants to do the same.

It's the gray wire under the steering column.

Yep that is the thread I used. See post # 9 for the start of photos. Pretty easy to follow.

Generally, grey is used for the dome light and yellow is for the dash lighting.

Okay, just t tapped it into the grey wire under the driver side. It took all of about 15 minutes to do this! Super easy!
