Question: For those of you doing the Project Grad Car Show on Saturday, Oct. 20th, are you doing the police escort from Precision Toyota at 7:30 AM or just planning to meet up and be at the show by 9:30 AM?

I believe that Bob, Patti and I are going to meet at Jerry Bob's for breakfast first and then go to the show before the parade arrives. Bob, Bob???

I'd like to do the cruise, but it's going to be a long day already. Last year, they had the cruise around Rancho Vistoso the night before. That seemed to work better. Breakfast is more important for me.

Posted some pictures from the Show Low trip on Facebook last night. For the non-FBer's, I put a few in my photo album below.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/album.php?u=37030

If you'd like, we can start a thread under the regional section and everyone can post photos there.

Original vs. Modified?

OK, I pulled down the registration form last night and got stuck on whether my car is original or modified. Being that the only thing that we've done under the hood is change the oil and add the catch can, I would think my car was original with a little bling. What are the Car Show guidelines for original vs. modified?

I don't know the guidelines, but last year, Bob was in modified and I was in original and we both won our classes. We may have to defer to you this year. The Bling Queen wins it all!!

I've asked some of the judges and organizers at previous shows. Most stammer around an answer, especially when talking about newer vehicles. It's easier for them to identify when an older car has been modified, since they know what the car came with back then. A new car can come in all sorts of configurations the judge knows nothing about.
The basic rule-of-thumb that's used is if you have at least 5 distinct mods (performance or appearance), it can be classified as Modified. It's best to be at the car when the judges come through and explain to them what you've done to the car and talk up what you're trying to acheive. It's harder for a car to win the modified class when all the mods are hidden inside the drivetrain or suspension.

Most of my mods aren't apparent just sitting in a parking lot. One of the judges at my first car show thought mine was in the modified class because I had cut the roof off...

From what I understood the modified category is based off engine work? Exhaust and CAI shouldn't really be modified, going further like a ported IM and headers should put you into modified because you are putting the drive train on the line (or completely replacing it haha)

Haha I wouldn't mind breakfast, a parade seems a little frustrating.
