I also raced a full on fox body race car..it had slicks..full cage..the whole deal. That Shelby beat me by a larger margin. That's a nice bump in power ..you cant have enough.

Yeah I plan on keeping it NA. I'm shooting for over 500 rwhp when I'm done

Compare the price for after-market bolt-ons and other mods between SRT8 and the Camaro, and you will be surprised how less expensive Camaro mods are to purchase.

My first car was a BB Challenger and while it was fast, as a young guy I just couldn't compete with my buddies running Chevys because they could easily buy performance parts at a small fraction of what I was paying so they had more speed parts and went faster.

I'm not a brand fanboy, I'm to old for that sh!t and I just enjoy performance cars and racing in general. That being said I currently own 2 Camaros and I did take an SRT8 Challenger and a GT500 out before buying my ZL. Putting it simply the Camaro is a much, much better package. Yes the GT500 is quicker in a straight line but they had to put a CAI on it and turn the boost up to make it happen. Let's compare all things equal and add a CAI and pulley my ZL up to match the boost and see what happens.

It seems to me the other brands are tweaking theirs cars to get ahead of the SS or ZL but keep in mind that the GM is not pumped up and costs very little to make it a monster, just like back in the old days when I had my Challenger.

I could have chosen anything, but in my opinion, the Camaro is the best compromise of all factors and does everything very well. That will always leave you open to other manufacturers building a car that is a one trick pony, to beat you in a single item but, you'll be happier overall with this package. Just get the ZL1 Convertible and be done with it and you can always spend a couple $ to turn it into a killer.

Best bang for the buck is a FI like a ZL1 or GT500. Spend a grand and get 600 rwhp

The OP is comparing his Challenger SRT 6.1 (425hp) to the Camaro SS (426hp or 400hp in an automatic) They look comparable to me.

I dont see why everybody always complains about the backseat and trunk size of the camaros, if you want a grocery getter buy a minivan, then youll have alllllllllll the trunk-passenger-headroom you want. If you want a gorgeous car thats the funnest to drive, well then, thats why most of us are here! Rode in a challenger once and cant say it felt much different inside than my taurus. Not everyone is interested in racing everyone they get next to at the stoplights. The camaro is just an awesome car!

once u start modding all bets off. Pick either cost will add up to do it right.

The performance of the 6.1 vs SS is essentially the same, so you wont get much of a perormance increase. The SS is a great car, I had one for three years and it was great. If I were you I would look into a slighty used 392 chally or a new charger superbee, both can be had in the mid $30k's

Mid 30s indeed. Guy ran his superbee with just a tune and intake and trapped 117 mph thats moving for a big car.

I read on the srt forum a superbee ran 11.9 the other month with just tires on a stock tune. Def a beast. I wish the ss auto came with the Ls3 and proper gearing, then it may see much better times.
