Long time no update. Our 5yr contract was ending and we were deep into trying to re-win the work. Well we won with a new partner and the transition was kinda of a nightmare so I have not been working on the car at all. Things are settling down and yesterday I finally installed the drain barb. I was a little worried about drilling the oil pan. It wasn't as bad as I thought. I took off the off the lower engine mount nuts, the trans support nuts and loosened the trans cross brace bolts. then gently lifted the engine by the back of the oil pan with a 4x4 to give greater support across the oil pan. Raised it about .75-1" and drilled the pan with the included roto-cutter. Used a lot of grease to capture shavings. Then gently tapped the pan with a lot of grease on the tap. It was not that bad - but it had me a bit worried... now on to the rest of the install...

Got the YSi mounted up and went to put the belt on - too short (both belts) UGH!!
Seems both belts were for the samll crank pulley - not the larger 7.8" pulley.... I will get it running in Jan

Went to the US to visit family and friends for Christmas. But have made some more progress on the Camaro...
[IMG][/IMG] Flipped the Fuel Rail and updated the heater hoses Will need to go down a belt size - that means I cannot use the 65.5" RPM belt and will need to use a 64.9" green Fleetrunner [IMG][/IMG] Front mount A2A from vortech [IMG][/IMG] ZL1 pump buttoned up [IMG][/IMG]

Damn that YSi is huge! Are those the bolts that came with the Vortech kit?
Did the kit come with 2 surge valves, or did you add the second one? EDIT: Nevermind, I read page 3, you added the surge valve.

Lookin good Dan,
You will have to reroute the belt under the lower Idler pulley so the ribs ride on the pulley. If not the belt will touch itself under power. Ted.

From the instructions: T. Using a ½” ratchet or breaker bar, de-tension the spring tensioner and install the supplied 10-rib belt as follows: i. Around the 10-rib crank pulley. ii. Under the spring tensioner. iii. Around the supercharger pulley. iv. On top side of the fixed idler. See Fig 6T, 6U, 6V. So I have been watching every online video of how the tentioner moves and images of where the tentioner sits. Still thinking...

I would really prefer to see the ECS style belt path and tensioner used there !!
Mine was similar to yours, and it just isnt as good, and you will need a much shorter belt there. Hayley Bearings or Eriks were good suppliers of belts when I needed cogged belts, pretty sure they can get a good range of ribbed too |

What would typically be the tensioner bracket bolts on the blower itself, are M12 The fixing holes usually for brackets, are 3/8" UNC ( I drilled mine out and helicoiled to M10 ) Blower pulley bolt, 3/8" UNF. And of course the LS engine is an all metric engine Really, they should just have everything metric. |
