The statutory holiday varies by province. In MB, NT, ON, SK the holiday observed is the Civic holiday which falls on the first Monday in August. So for 2011 that's August 1st. Several other provinces observe a similar holiday (different name) but the timing isn't always the same

Soloution - You/Jason and Jason should drive in from out there. I suggest that you simply take the entire week off. Leave on Monday, party in Oshawa Thursday night.

i would love to take the entire week off but i highly doubt that will happen. i'll talk to my work more after i get back from my trip in feb and see how my shift partner handled the 10 days that i was gone for. the problem is that i'm the only one at my work that can do my job. so if he can't handle it then i'm screwed for getting time off in the summer
