Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

Very close power/weight ratios, assuming the 2011 Mustang with this exact engine gets a 6-speed, and weight stays similar. Of course...the Camaro will still have that IRS advantage..... |

yep. and by the time Ford tries to follow GM and give it the IRS, the Camaro will likely have a weight advantage on the mustang.

I TOLD YOU!!!!! I POSTED ABOUT THIS LIKE A YEAR AGO HAHA This is big news though... not gonna lie. This is not good for the Camaro/Challenger. Can you imagine the first model year glitches on that gear box?

Issue I see? GM JUST came out with their 6-speed autos not 4-5 years ago. And they're fantastic! But this is better...If they want to go full-scale dual-clutch, then they're going to want to make them in-house to replace their autos, which means refitting the transmission plants...which they can't do right now thanks to some $$ issues...
ugh. I'd love to be surprised by GM on this one. LOVE to be. |

The dual clutch unit is slated mostly for their economy models. There is no guarantee that it will be able to handle the power or torque of a V-8 or turbo 6 engine. Hopefully they have kept that in mind as an ecoboost Mustang with a dual-clutch is interesting. The lack of an IRS is still a concern.
I’d like to see Ford bring over the Euro Focus or whatever that new model (can remember the name, the concept was a candy red color) that is replacing it with 350-400hp and AWD. I bet they offer that with the 2010 Fusion SVO/SHO which will handle well as it’s basically a Mazda 6 platform. |

And again...I will believe any of this when I see it. LLN especially is not any sort of reliable source of information.

intersting. the camaro will finaly be pushed. the eco-boost alone will be giving the ss a run for the money if they get the weight correct.
twin clutch tho will be something. the evoX has a twin clutch system and its simply flawless and shifts super fast. it will be intersting to see how ford will merry it up with their motors

A 400-hp 5.0 hooked up to a dual-clutch? Oh, hell yeah!
