100 Bonus points if anyone can point to the root cause for the thin metal used on new cars.

I have some Dents on both hips of my car! Sucks that it that easy to dent on a $35000 plus car. You would think paying that much the body would be more durable. My OCD always notices these dents and drives me crazy!!

How about a little lighter wheels, a lot lighter mufflers and a body that doesn't dent if you look at it hard? How much for the carbon fiber option? My only complaint has gone from sun visors and cup holders to a stoopid soft body.

yep, safety nannies and the demand of a safe at any speed no matter how lousy of a driver I am public have added a lot of weight...so they have to cut where they can, metal panels, paint etc....

early muscle cars: no ABS (learn how to pump brakesand 3 sec rule or more in the rain) , no traction control (posi-track), no stabiity track (steering wheel and learn how to catch the rear coming around), no air bags (lap belts only and no head rest), no back up cam, no tire pressure monitors, steel wheels and bias-ply tires...hardtop too, no B pillar and roll over/roof crush gov test (just do not roll the damn thing OK)...all comes up to about 400-500 lbs i would guess.....most folks would not drive a brand new 67 GTO today...

got caught in a hail storm, got two very faint dents, shallow enough that dim light makes them unnoticable but in the sun they become more obvious. looking in to pdr but being in a rural area not having any luck yet, got a couple names and numbers to call tomorrow. want to get them fixed before I put her into hibernation!

I've got one on my RF fender, top. Thought it got dinged somehow, but now it's making sense.

Bringing this topic back from the dead because I am curious... has anyone heard/seen these dimples on the side of the rear quarter panel? I bought my car used and she had a few light door dings - I have been trying to determine if these are also door dings. The side rear panel has a line of shallow dimples. I don't see the slight crease in the center that is the typical sign of the edge of a door making a dent, and the dimples seem evenly spaced.

I don't have a close up photo (can get one after work if it is helpful) but I've circled the area where they are located.

I have this same issue on my black 2012 2ss. I had three on my top that a dealer here in Houston covered under warranty. They were able to remove them by wetsanding that area. Now I have one on my trunk. It's just a dent with no damage to the paint. This is very frustrating because I rarely drive the car and it stays covered up in my garage.

I have a couple faint ones on the side, the sun has to be hitting at just the right angle and the car has to be clean to be noticed but on the flat area above the hips and the flat area right above the front wheels I have fait dimpling. clean car and you put your eyes down to the level of the flat area and you can see it, really hard to see other wise. have learned to live with it. easily seen I would have had it fixed already.
