Coming off an LS1 Camaro my question would be is this new SS a lot more powerful and fun than the LS1 or is it similar?

The 6.2 Liter V-8 SS would never be too much car IMHO.....It's perfect

The V8 is never too much. That said, I bought the V6. Why? It will blow the doors off my 01 Mustang GT. The price difference to the SS was just too much to swallow, when the V6 does so well. I got 30 mpg on last week's trip to LA, at 75 mph. Really nice.

Upgrade either to the 1SS, or the 2LT. Rented a couple 1LTs, and while they're nice, they just didn't satisfy my want list...

Get the v8.
I regret buying a v6 because it just isnt MUSCLE (yeah, its a ponycar but you get it) I've lately been talking to my dealer about trading mine for an identicle v8, but losing 10,000 dollars in the process is ridiculous.

Just make sure you get the car that you really want even if that means waiting just a little bit for a little bigger down payment.

I'd go for the best & most you can afford..

No matter which camaro you choose , you are going to have a lot of fun !

Good Luck !!!

I'm all V8 in everything except my kids Corolla. Camaro SS, Hummer Alpha, H2, 65' Vette, 67' Nova with an LS2 engine and fuel injected. If nothing else, if you keep the V8 it will likely hold more value over time due to the change in the auto industry and all the new reg's.

But it's your money, buy what you want.....but if you can't buy what you want, wait until you can!

This "Connectivity package" is called the "RS package" and can be added to any of the cars.

In my opinion, the V8 is the only way to go. The V6 is not the same Camaro as the V8. To me the V6 is just like a Ford Pinto.

Did I miss something here? Is it 2001? It is 2010. Will this blow the doors off a 2010 Mustang GT? I mean that's like saying it will blow the doors of a 1991 Mustang GT. Times have changed.

Since you got the RS package you will have the 20" wheels with summer only tires. These are the same tires that come on the SS. I highly advise that if you are driving this car year round... get a set of winter tires. The SS isn't the only one that needs them... your V6 will have the same problem with summer only tires on it.

Phenixdragon - you are wrong about the connectivity package being the same as the RS package... the OP has it right. you can get the connectivity package on the 1LT and you will have the USB port and steering wheel controls. This package is not available on the 1SS... you would have to step up to the 2SS to get it if you got the V8.

My point was that my V8 Mustang GT was considered pretty fast in 01. Very satisfying. With the V6 in my Camaro being faster, I saw no reason to spend another 7-10 large for a V8 Camaro. Just as in 68, I and the other guys who worked at Chrysler at the time, NEVER bought a Hemi. Just not worth the extra money when a good 383 4 barrel or 440 would do quite well. I don't know about where you are, but street racing and over 20 more than the speed limit is a felony here.

the LS1 Camaros made 305-320 hp...if the V6 makes what 315? You have a car as fast as my old LS1 and better gas mileage. A v6 isnt what a v6 was years ago. I told the story about my 1995 V6 with 160 hp 3.4 liter....and you guys are complaining about 315!! I was just happy to have a Camaro!

Whats the insurance difference in v6 vs v8? im sure if youre young its not cheap
