Thanks Scotty for the info!,

the one question that i got is when will they start pulling orders and or how will we know about it regardless of changes made to orders?
We don't accurately know that answer until the Feb consensus which from what I read is supposed to happen Feb 19th or 26th. We should get a pretty good idea of how things are going to progress in the future from what we see there. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

Talked to my dealer yesterday about possibly changing my order. I'm thinking of going with the manual over the auto. He basically told me that he's pretty sure he would have to cancel my current order and resubmit a new one. Can anyone tell me if this is the proper procedure? Also, is it too late to make any changes to my order, I am currently number 3 out of 5 preorders that are allocated to my dealer. And for anyone in southern NJ and looking , he told me that they still have one preorder spot available!

It's been my understanding that you can change your order without having to cancel and place a new one right up till they pull your order for production

The way I understood this is as long as you dont change the model
LT, LS, SS you dont have to cancel and reorder. But if you do change
models you haft to re-order.

Scott:

You can post the following..

I understand the concern with missing the opportunity to change orders, but rest assured it will be late January to early February before we start requesting orders for production, and even when we start the initial number of orders will be a small amount. For most orders, changes will be accepted well into February or March.

Thanks

CamaroScotty - thanks for the information as always.

I'm sure everybody is tired of these types of questions, but here goes.

Do we know the exact date that the dealers will receive their 1st allocation numbers from GM?

How long after the dealer receives the numbers do they have to submit their orders to GM?

And finally, based on previous GM launches, how general/specific COULD the allocations be? Could they be as simple as '2 cars' or 'One V6 and one V8'? Or could they be more specific like 'One 1LT and one 2SS' or 'any 2 cars, but they must be Silver' or 'any 2 cars, but must have RS package'?

Thanks

One of the dealers posted this a while back:
You shouldn't have to cancel your whole order. They dealer needs to go to the preliminary order screen and click on the options (just the codes). It will bring up a screen just for options and allow you to add or subtract options. That is what I did this morning for a customer and it made the change easily and quick.
Don't go under the regular configure a new vehicle. Go to the Quick order link. They are under the same order vehicle tab.

Early February concensus should have expected ship numbers for Camaro. Weekly allocations are expected to begin mid-month. Each week you receive an allocation for cars. Camaro is one allocation group and does not differentiate between V-8 or V-6. You may see constraints again certain options, from V-8 to spare tire, which preclude you from ordering that combination in that week's ordering cycle. The cycle opens on Thursday when your allocation appears. You can place orders until Saturday when they lock. On Tuesday you have one last chance to change the detail on your orders. At 9PM Tuesday they launch and are on a ballistic trajectory to production. Several weeks after ordering you should get an indication of TPW (target production week) but this can be delayed on a start up launch like Camaro. Next week the cycle repeats again starting Thursday.

NuCar and CamaroScotty - Thanks for information I can hang my hat on. Interesting stuff and let's get the party started. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for delivery by Memorial Day for my 2LT/RS...however, I'm changing to Aqua Blue Metallic w/ Silver Rally stripes this week and locking in those lyrics.

Best to all.

PS: The service writer on my Avenger asked yesterday if I was still getting a Challenger. Told him I had a Camaro on order. His response "Sweet. You'll like it better than the Challenger."

I just discovered that I have a very unique problem with my order. Since I have yet to receive a letter from GM and changed my order today from an auto to a stick, I noticed that the dealer actually entered my street address incorrectly. He actually had one number wrong, therefore I have not received any literature from GM. Although the guy 10 houses down is probably wondering why he is getting letters about a 2010 camaro!!

I alerted the dealer to this as I was changing my order, as I noticed it on my copy of the original workbench order. He informed me that he was able to change options on the vehicle, but it would not let him change anything with my name or address. I have subsequently contacted GM through an 800 number and they basically told me that they would have to look into it, and the dealer should be able to change it there.

The dealership said that it didn't matter what my address was since the car has already been ordered and they have my correct address on file. I was wondering if anyone kew a way I could correct this so that I may also receive my letter and other camaro literature from GM.

Have them go in through Chevy Launch and email the Camaro launch team and they will take care of any literature issues. He should include your order # and expalin they address mishap.
