.

I would expect that 50k is a significant price barrier in many people's minds. If I am correct, then the people at GM know this from surveys & panel group testing, or sales number statistics. I expect that's why the 2011 Shelby GT500 Coupe has an MSRP of $48,645. The psychological factor of "under 50k."

That is my reasoning for expecting GM to shoot for the Z28 to come in very near there. A couple of months ago I predicted $47,995 would bring home a Z28, but with bells and whistles it will go north of 55k. Nothing so far has made me revise my estimate.

Figure a 2012 2SS coming in at $37k.

Then add $9k for a Maggie, CAI, tune.
$3k for exhaust
$3k for braking upgrade
$4k for suspension

Not including money spent for trans/clutch upgrade as well as half shafts...and maybe beefed up rear. (Another $3-5k)

To me, I would rather spend the $ on a new Z platform that has been tuned and tested through GM then piece together my SS to compare/compete to a Z.

So I will be paying on mine and saving $ when the Z comes out with the color, styling, hood, interior...

If it be $55k, so be it. Easier to swallow 20k in upgrades over time than to cough up $55k at the dealer.

Just a thought...

After reading a few more posts you guys really need to use your heads...
I know the way you are thinking........

Example, LS3 motor goes for around $7,500 and a LSA $15,000, that does NOT mean we have to tack on that extra $7,500 onto a z28. Thats retail pricing by GM, you have to look at in house costs etc, that we will never know. The LS3 might stand GM about $1,500 and the LSA might only stand them $8,000, if that much.

There is a TON of profit in this car, its a converted Zeta. They can produce a z28 at almost any reasonable price point if they wanted to.

IF GM can deliver a Z28 for $50,850 gas guzzler included then I think they have done a great job. It needs to be GT500 priced.

That still isn't taking into account the effect of a Camaro and a Corvette in the same showroom for about the same price. It's not something I'd ever think I would see from Chevrolet.

its the same situation as a callaway camaro sitting right next to a corvette at a dealership. People are not going to go to a dealership wanting a z28 camaro and then all of a sudden decide to get a vette. Believe it or not but some people, myself included, want a backseat.

i'm not getting the z. i'm getting the 2012 ss with the new interior. i don't need all that power, the ls3 is quite fine for me. and the car i want(1ss with a sunroof) priced at 32,695 or something like that at msrp, i think it's swingable.

no one in this thread has said it isn't coming. all we've said is it's not official and there for it doesn't exist. officially. if you can't tell between the two then I guess that's why you think it's official just because some spy shot caught a camaro with a sticky that says 6.2 sc testing against a gt500. yep I guess it's official.
You are very right sir, only thing comfirmed is the Camaro Z-28 test mule. How could I be so stupid. Woe is me...

This is my thoughts exactly

Driving down the street and blow the engine and SC due to an unforseen error= 10 grand, reinstallation of new engine, etc, 2 grand.

Now if you had a factory Z28..that would be covered under warranty and it wouldnt cost you a single time to replace the engine.

there are plenty of places that do quality work and no issues with their mods. Next question is with a SC what kind of warranty is GM going to offer on that, im assuming the standard warranty. But am curious as to what kind of clauses are in there.

I can tell you when I thought I had an issue with my turbo on my diesel the dealer got very defensive about it and started talking jibberish as how this fix was related to the warranty. ended up only being one of the rubber connectors on it. I wouldnt be so sure the warrany is going to be Ironclad. My friend has a roush mustang from the factory and they have gave him the run around when he had some issues.

On top of that I am more willing to save ten to 15 now and if issues come fix it then.
