Everything did go well with my wife, Thanks for asking, she doesn't do pregnancy well. She has been pregnant 4x So far, and we only have 1 son to date, with #2 on the way, slated for Thanksgiving.
So, when she says she is not feeling well, or feeling weak, I am invisioning the worst and gettimg home as fast as possible. The officer saw that I was very distraught and reduced the ticket, but still made me wait till he wrote it. Thankfully my wife called a neighbor to come stay with her until I got home.
I am a very responsible business owner that works 6-7 days a week, 10-12 hours a day, and this car is my only outlet. I don't golf or fish.
I set the internal speed alarm to 40mph to keep me in line in the city limits.
Hopefully that works, One more ticket and I will be posting a Summit White 2010 Camaro 2SS/RS for sale I will get back into a large SUV and save my license from any more problems.
The last Camaro I owned was a 1991 Red Camaro with T-tops, when I lived in NY, and wasn't pulled over nearly as much as I am down here in Florida.

Thanks Again!
Being a South Florida cop I can tell you that all of the cities down here are straining to meet budget concerns without raising taxes. Writing tickets is an easy way for the cities to make revenue. The new red light cameras are bringing in a lot of money for the cities using them. I have two daughters and a wife of thirty years. I know what it is like when they call on the phone crying and you have to get to them as quickly as possible. I have an advantage over you with my lights and siren but I still have to be careful getting there. I will not lie to you and tell you that I always do the speed limit but I do try to pick my time and place. Enjoy your car and slow down just a bit. You have a growing family that wants to you to come home in one piece every night. We will get together after my Z/28 comes in. Take care.

um those people that do those things are just as crappy of drivers as people who have jammers/detectors.

i dont have a jammer, dont talk on the cell, read, or do anything but drive when i am driving

Raqball,
1st please do not tell me to go "educate [my]self." I have a bachelors degree, a masters and I am currently working on a Ph.D... all in science. I have taught several undergraduate physics, biology and chemistry undergraduate courses and labs... So I'm not an expert but I have a better understanding than most people outside of Radar engineers.
2nd!
Read my post carefully, I didnt say a jammer/shifter was illegal.

Laser is godmode for speed detection. Im pretty sure, based on physics, that laser is the end all for speed detection. Laser, along with all electromagnetic radiation, is the fastest thing we know of. The only differnce is laser light is more focused. By the time the officer shoots the laser, it hits your car and bounces back into the speed detector your car has maybe only moved less than a inch. And by then the laser has made hundreds of speed measurements. Thats way to late to react. Most laser guns take several readings per second. So based on that, as long as the cop can keeping a steady aim on you all he has to do wait for just one fraction of laser light to be reflected back and you're done. Unless you have the money and don't mind breaking a few laws you absolutely cannot legally (physically) make your car undetectable to lasers. Anyone know the physics behind these laser shifter/blocking things you're posting charts about? It seems pretty bogus to me. I think the money is better spent elsewhere.
Meaning if you were somehow able to make your car 100% undetectable to lasers I'm pretty sure the Govt. would be all over you in a heartbeat. I dont want to get into all the nerdy details about electromagnetism and its detection, so Ill leave it at that.

I don't know how shifters work but Im 100% sure that they are not making your car 100% undetectable. The only way I know of being able to beat laser is to either absorb it, physically block it or deflect/diffract it. I dont believe shifters do either, but then again I dont know how they work.

Edit, just read how shifters/jammers work, and they dont do either of the three actions I mentioned.

As well educated as you say you are, I'd think you'd research before posting..... So again, please research before posting BOGUS information...

Thanks and have a nice day...

actually i work at custom sounds down here in san antonio and this is a very common problem with the placement of the sensors, i was informed by one of our escort reps but the range on these bad boys are amazing! So just an fyi you might wanna check the placement cause you do have to front sensors and on rear.

raqball, thanks for some education. I run a Passport 9500xi,can I add a laser shifting system like the Laser Interceptors you previously mentioned? Threads, web sites for info would be greatly appreciated.

Yes you can add the Laser Interceptors... They come in a kit that includes everything you will need... It hard wires into the car, and has it's own laser alerting system and a "kill" switch so to speak...

If you run Laser Interceptors, you can turn off laser alerting on the 9500...

Thanks & I'm on the soapbox again!

Thanks for the info. After some research I'll probably ask for your advice again. For what it's worth, that's why I'm on this forum-we all have our 'specialties' and a common bond of awe, respect, love, whatever for THE Camaro or for that matter any of the 'new' American muscle cars. OP can certainly have a different opinion but obviously for 'some' their specialty is not tact or communication degrees. While my degrees give me the privledge of owning such a nice ride I don't think they would increase your dyno #'s,etc. too much. This Absolute has me rambling again. If you didn't guess, one of my degrees is in mixology! Glass is empty-DON'T DRINK & DRIVE!

Don't drive like an idiot and you won't get a ticket. I think it's pretty funny that someone would blow a bunch of money on a detector and think they are invisible to the cops.

You got to pay to play brother.

Speed DOES kill, maim, and cripple thousands every year....

Most officers will not even give you a second look if you are under 10mph over the posted speed limit... (ie 49 in a 40).... If tickets were purely for generating funds, you'd be written for 1 mph over.....
I'm sorry but excessive speeding in some cases can be dangerous but mostly in extreme cases or when it's some idiot who is dangerous the second they start their car. But 80 MPH on a 4 lane highway isn't dangerous at all but here it's reckless driving and a huge ticket that's stays on your record for 11 years and costs thousands of dollars in fines. If it wasn't about money they would just give points out and let your insurance company fine you and not pocket a bunch of cash for themselves for generally harmless offenses.

I don't want to get involved with the radar/laser detector/jammer debate. I have a radar detector, and I'll leave it at that.

But what does irk me is the general impression that speeding is not dangerous. Let me put it this way:

Speed is not dangerous.

Speeding is.

The danger doesn't come from your speed, it comes from the difference between your speed and the speed of the other drivers. I tell the same thing to the people who think its safer to drive 10 under the speed limit than it is to drive the speed limit. There's a reason there's a minimum speed on the interstate.

The other thing to think about is that roads are maintained to the level of their speed limit. A road meant to be driven at 40 can stand to have a lot more surface imperfections (such as pot holes and cracks) than a road meant to be driven at 65.
- X

P.S. - before people jump on me, I'm not a police officer - I'm an EMT. I don't want you to need somebody like me.
