For those touting the 7:42 time for the Z06, that's also partially due to the amazingly shitty stock tires. I think the car is capable of more with a decent set of rubber like the ZR1 has... we'll see, though.
As for the Z, I do think they could put in MR and still be reasonable. If we could get the car to stay around 3800 lbs with MR and good rubber, I don't see 7:50 being out of the question. I'm still going to stick with 7:55 though, because I don't think they'll make it substantially faster than the V. Also, little-known is that the V's 8:00 time was with the automatic. I was watching an interview with the driver and he'd pulled that time with the auto because he'd been driving it more but thought the manual might have a few more seconds in it.

7:50. It may take a couple laps to get there but I'm expecting low 7:50's.

You know that they are probably out there tuning and tweaking so even if a number does come out it is probably not the car's full potential but just a progress check... they still have some time to dial this car in... and then we will have to see how wicked it really is. Remember how Scott talked about how the '02 actually had better lap times than the Corvettes.... time will tell

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say 7:49 and match the Z06. The way this thing is gripping in the corners with out any tail slides(see last video around 0:30 second mark) is proof that it will corner like a monster.

To me it would make sense that if there going to add all that power there going to do a great suspension on it as well and hopefully put her on a diet, I cant see why not they would aim for a greater time of a CTS-V either , it's going to be close to exotic car territory i think , Z28s are pinnacle of the Camaro's i don't think they'll let us down i am saying 7:49.5 keeping the fingers crossed, come on GM!!

Who's driving for the official lap times of any car at any track?
Those who race know that this is the number one factor. Tires are the number two factor. |
