Good write up, I just sprayed my first coat, will be spraying again in a couple hours.

Stupid question, but you left the masking tape on and reinstalled? No issues with them holding after that?

Edit - I imagine the black plastic holds it in place? Thought about this after my original post.

No, you need to remove the tape. I used the tape to keep from painting the tabs. I let them dry overnight beofre trying to remove the tape thou.

Thanks for the clarification.. I had myself confused, thinking the tape was left on for "easier removal," keeping the tabs depressed.

I did this to my car today and it looks great but unfortunately I think I ran into a problem.

Is there suppose to be a gap between the tail light and the bezels? I didn't pay enough attention when I took them off and once I got done painting and decided to put them on, I noticed that the bezels do NOT touch the tail lights. So I was wondering if I messed something up on the bezels or are they suppose to be like that?????

It seems like this would be a good place to trap dirt so I am a bit worried about this.

They have a very small gap. You can "wiggle" the bezel just barely when it is in, but they are fairly snug. Just make sure you push them back in all the way and you should be fine. Post a pic if you're still having problems.

Ok thanks. There is a small gap between them. But i noticed that 2 of the bezels have an uneven gap. Im thinking maybe one of the pins is not clicking in right. Im goong to take it back off and lift the clip a little so i can make sure it clicks when it goes in.

I realize this is an older post, but I am curious to know if the plastic paint adhere's well to the chrome finish or will I need to scruff up the chrome finish? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. Will sand blasting them be a good thing to do? I just bought a sand blaster on sale and itching to use it I suppose, LOL. I know I can't put the pressure on to high, but just wondering if the chrome would come off pretty easy. Back when I pull wrenches for a living I mainly blasted manifolds, turbo housing, etc. but never plastic.

Just 3 light coats for me, and no issues so far. No sanding or scuffing.
