You can't do that with these new computers. Do a search in the tuning section for the details.

Any mod no matter how small (intake, headers, etc) "can" affect your warranty if GM/dealership finds a relationship between the mod or the installation of the mod to your issue..

But as mentioned, they (GM/dealer) needs to be able to link your mod (or your installation of the mod) to the issue.

To give you an example. I went to a Chevy dealership the other day for a squeaky belt. It was a dealership where I didn't purchase my car and that is under new ownership.
This dealership is definately not going to be mod friendly. They told me they would replace the belt (in good faith), but because my car was modded it could have been an issue (not covered). Their claim was that something could have been done to the car during the installation of the intake or headers that is now causing the belt to squeal. I told them the belt had never been touched for any reason and its exactly the way it came from the factory.

The point is- some dealerships will look for any excuse to "try" to deny you warranty work. They will do their best to stretch cause from your modded part or installation to whatever your issue is.

In the past, I've never had any warranty issues at certain dealerships. So it really does depend on the dealership and their attitude towards mods.

Recently my CEL came on. I plugged in my SCT tuner and called Onstar and confirmed it was code P0174. I knew it wouldn't be covered under warranty if it was tune related but Just to make sure it wasn't any kind of fuel pump issue, or vacuum leak I decided to bring it in to the dealer. Here is a copy of the invoice.

dealerships try to look for why they dont need to honor the warranty to make money, not all dealerships do but the majority ive dealt with do. also to the above poster there is no more evidence than that. completely typed in and GM official.

Seems to be some misinformation going around - SLP provides a 3/36 on the SLP components and effected parts, the balance of the GM warranty is still there. If a dealer has made a statement in regards to no warranties, please email the info so that I can put the proper people in touch with them. I'll check my mail on Monday as I'm currently at the Cleveland Auto Show where the ZL575 Camaro is in the middle of the Chevrolet exhibit.

SLP now has a 5yr 100 as well...

FYI: This dealer is screwing people with that $1.00 misc charge. If it were not for that charge, your repair bill would not of been taxable. It pisses me off when business do that just to increase their cash flow ...

No it isn't. That statement is from SLP, not GM.

Give GM a call and ask them if they warranty the powertrain on a car with an aftermarket supercharger and calibration. I'll wager they don't.

If your talking about GM's warranty, you should provide facts from GM. The GM bulletin is in black and white, alter the hp and or calibration and the powertrain warranty is blocked. I've never seen any information from GM that there is an SLP exception to that policy.

Actually, they have to remit their sales tax back to their state. It isn't like they get to keep it.

how are you going to sit there and deny a reputable company that has been doing business with GM for yearssss.....
why would they lie???? are u serious
and i also have a warranty tech for GM (the guys that go out for warranty claims for gm) who also says the same thing that SLP says..

why are you so hellbent that it is what it is. SLP and GM have warranty ties. always have and always will

YOU KEEP SAYING AFTERMARKET LIKE ITS A COMPANY NAMED CHINA BLOWER. SLP IS AN APPROVED COMPANY THAT MAKES THERE PARTS EMISSIONS COMPLIABLE FOR GM SPECIFICALLY TO ALLOW THE USE OF THERE PRODUCTS.... SLP IS GM APPROVED

SLP is GM approved?

Approved for what? They are not a supplier. GM does not warranty their modifications. GM didn't validate any of their modifications. Emissions legal has nothing to do with GM. Emissions legal means it meets government emissions regulations.

They were a second stage upfitter for the 4th gen SS. Even on that car, GM did not warranty the SLP content. I owned one that the SLP hood paint was crap and the chrome peeled off a wheel, GM did not pay one dollar for either repair - SLP paid the dealer.

They have zero involvement with the 5th Gen SS. Their supercharger and calibration is 100% aftermarket - meaning non OEM. I will wager any amount you wish GM will not warranty the powertrain on a car with an SLP supercharger and cal. Call GM and ask them if you believe they will.

I know they don't get to keep it, a lot of places have a bogus fee they charge that makes the whole bill taxable. They don't pay the State the tax on a daily basis ... When there is ONLY labor there is no taxes on service ...

At least if you mod while your under warranty, there is a chance they will fix it. Wait till the warranty is over, and there is no chance.
+1. do your thing while you can. life is short. have some fun along the way.

I'm still waiting for someone from GM to chime in and put this in writing.

Like I said, if it doesn't void GM's powertrain warranty, there will be a LOT of Camaro owners adding this blower.
