lol - the only plus side of the trade off (as far as boobs go) is that the little heater-control icon on the metra kit, turns into the mudflap girl when you hold the AC button down for 10 seconds.

Yeah now only if the screen was textured and was a touch screen then I would be sold!

No need for name calling. We all come to the forums for information and as with anything else we all have opinions, just don't have to shoot people down. With that said - Thanks Topdown for the information and insight, it is appreciated.

I will be really ticked off if they dont end up releasing this kit. It looks so much better then the Metra one in my opinion. My biggest complaint with the Camaro was no nav, I am waiting patiently to rectify the situation. Come on Alpine get err done!

I've stopped by my stereo installer and he has been in touch with his Alpine rep they are saying June/July. I actually had the 900BT head unit installed with the Metra kit( mudflap chick and all) and when the Alpine kit comes out my installer is going to swap it out at no cost to me. He has seen them and say they are sick

Thanks for the info Dragon Tats! I think I have made up my mind that I am going to wait to upgrade the radio until after the dash kit comes out and if it doesn't come out after august then I'll just give up and go with the metra kit.

Dragon Tats...Can you show me a pic of your setup? Thanks

I'm really trying to hold out for this kit as I really dislike the appearance of the metra kit....the sales guy at Sound of Tri-State pretty much said the Pioneer AVIC-Z130BT shyts all over everything Alpine puts out (head-units) I saw this unit in action and it is awfully impressive! Alpine can you divulge any specs at all concerning iPod interaction, screen resolution etc, that would sway me to wait until late July (what I heard from same store) to demo the new Alpine products? I'm not really a fanboi of either Pioneer or Alpine or Kenwood for that matter, and want the most "bang for the buck" if I'm going to drop $1000-1500 or more on a head unit and kit...

I am with you Bob - I am really hoping it is going to come out soon. It is an awesome looking kit. I think it is worth the wait.

Our new W910 will be in dealers this week.

Spec wise, they are similar.
WVGA screens, LED backlit.
IPod speed is similar. We use a percentage/alphabet search, they use a slick looking scrub bar.
Built in Parrot BT for both.
Built in HD Radio and lifetime Nav Traffic

If you are adding SiriusXM, ours is easier and cheaper. And has play, pause rewind functions.

Our menu system is classic Alpine, which to many looks old fashioned, but side by side (especially when driving) it is the easiest to use. Poineer has greatly improved their user friendliness is recent years though, and the 130 is their best piece ever.

Visually in the car, nothing will look as cleanly integrated as the W910 with a Perfect FIT kit as far as contours, finish, screen to panel gaps etc.

We can't come to market soon enough, I know, but we want to be sure everything is perfect before it gets out the door.

^ Alpine, I appreciate the heads up as I'm sure others do also. Thanks for the honest comparison too. My timetable certainly allows me to give the dealer a couple weeks to demo the unit...if it even comes close to the Pioneer, Alpine will probably be the direction I go with the dash kit possibly giving it the edge...are we still looking at delays on the dash kit?
