It's ok to post links to other forums. We just don't want their links spammed all over our boards or distributed though PM's.

Feel free to post a link to a specific thread that you feel is worth while.

Please don't try and leach traffic from one forum to another..

Here's a thread from Livernois, a very reputable shop here in Michigan on there Camaro tune:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32394

the graph:

show some very nice gains on a stock SS...

Here's a dyno on a 2011 5.0 Mustang, 100% stock

so those are the kind of gains I'm used to seeing with just a tune..

Guessing scrmings dyno of the 05 mustang is of his former mustang. But I too have read about good gains even with the new mustang from just a tune alone.

Scrming, on your mustang V6 dyno above, is that extra TQ down low due to freeing up some TQ management or is the engine really performing that much better?

I would think if it was from just the TQ management alterations, that you'd see the same with an auto Camaro V6. Just thinking.

Yes, the low end torque improvement was from yanking out all the torque management crap... The Camaro really only has TM at the shifts, where as on my Mustang, it was there ALL the time...

As a favor to a fellow CAMARO FRIEND I have posted this information for him. Many others have posted similar reports but this one sums it up best.

“Man, I'm about sick of the tune threads. C5 better be glad I'm banned, lol, because I would get harsh. Enough is enough. All this hype over one tuning company or another going to tune the LLT. Really? Car is in it's second model year, two years old, ya think they would have already done something is something was to be done. Why miss out on the business? Why let one company have a monopoly over a tune? I know!! Because there isn't anything in the damn ECM to gain a miracle 15-20rwhp!! Even after dropping mods on the car, 5rwhp maybe?? That's about what I gained, although my car shifts way better, runs like a scalded dog and permagrin doesn't begin to describe the feeling behind the wheel.

Seriously, if there was something there other then optimization, Diablo would've been on the market a year ago. HP Tuners would have followed, as would every other tuner out there. Now, we are months away from the 2012 being released, possibly with a different ECM. HP Tuners is just now going to review the Bosch platform? Really? Oh wait, they have given a 1-3 month timetable. What happens in that time? Oh yeah, the 2012 will be announced sometime during that period, and what changes.

Yeah, I wish we had a handheld, but then again, who doesn't have a laptop or two? Still gotta hook up things to change tunes, Trificta is no harder to change then Hyper Tech, except it's a bigger computer to tot around. Are we that lazy we want to make sure it's a small box vs a small laptop we have to carry, or store in the car?

Maybe HPT will "tune" the v6, if it's modded. I'll wager it's no different then Trificta, and no cheaper. Why? It's not a hand held for one, so you'll have to go to a reseller or purchase the software/cable. It'll have to be custom, like Trificta, to each car, which means you'll be paying someone to write it, be it HPT or their reseller. And you can get the Trificta through a reseller, just like HPT, only difference is Vince still writes the tune. So one won't have to buy a cable, and will still have to drive somewhere to get it switched back to stock if needed. So, how are they going to save you money, unless they, HPT, try to "can" the tunes for specific mods?

Let's not forget, Vince has cracked everything, AFR, timing, fuel and tranny. Nothing he can't tune now, FI or NA, he's got you covered. So the comments about HPT having 100 tables vs Vince's 30? As of right now, HPT has zero tables on the Bosch platform, Vince can tweak everything.

Am I biased? Yes. Think about it. Vince tunes more then just the v6 Camaro, just like HPT. Yet, he took the time to crack it early on, even with out huge gains to be had, while everyone else stated, " there's nothing there, so it's a waste of time." Really? Now all of a sudden we are worth a look because, has everyone forecasted, the v6 would start outselling the v8. Bullshit. Jump on the bandwagon just before a model year change, and possible ECM change? Fine, but I'll wager we'll end up with the same amount of tuners in 2 months as we do now.

If, by some act of some higher power, HPT comes out with something, I'll be impressed. If they are cheaper and offer ALL of the same services of Trificta, I'll be more impressed. If they find some gain that VInce didn't, I'll be impressed and apologize. If they don't do squat, I won't be surprised.

Okay, off my soap box, lol. I wouldn't be offended if someone would copy/paste that rant over at c5 in the appropriate thread, lol.

I do feel better for some reason..hehe.”

rtcat...

can I ask, what is the source of the frustration...

for no other reason than my own understanding.

are you guys looking for more tuning options

are you looking for a handheld?

are you hoping for competition between tuners in order to help improve the available tunes?

I think we all agree that the HP gain or lack thereof is not an issue. So if you guys could have it your way what would you want?

Thanks,

Chris

i can help answer some of that. I sort of already did in the other tune thread that rtcat pasted that rant.

Yes, a handheld would be great. Mainly for switching between tunes easily for nitrous. or maybe between stock and street for whatever reason. Believe it or not, not everyone has a laptop...

I think everyone knows competition is a good thing.

The price of the only option we have right now is very steep compared to other tuners out there for other cars.

Being able to tune your car without having to email would be nice, so we can take our cars to our shop that we trust, to tune our cars after we mod them...
