And No! I'm not going to beat the kid up, there's a huge chance I'd get in trouble doing that. Why beat up the kid anyway? That will only hurt him for maybe a week. A police report, fine and his insurance rising will hurt him a lot more!
Definitely hope hes 18.

Beating his ass is optional, hitting him with the full extent of the law isnt. Make him learn his lesson.

On top of that Criminal Law is actually a completely separate set of laws from Juvenile Law. Criminal Law only applies to Criminal Court, not Family Court where those under 18 are tried. You only get tried in a Criminal Court under the age of 18 if there is a preceding allowing the jurisdiction to be switched.
Who cares how many people you've arrested, how many juvenile cases have you dealt with?

"What I thought you were referring to was the vandalism, not fighting."

Good glad we cleared that and you got it right the second time around. And who gives a shit that a retired state trooper agreed with you? State troopers patrol highways and write tickets or protect elected state officials, they dont deal with juvenile cases. Hes just butt hurt I made him look like a fool in our other thread.

Call me a tool if you want that has nothing to do with the facts Im stating. You havent done any homework man, you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

Go find me a case in which a person under 18 got into a fist fight in school and got a serious charge from it.

You look like the asshat being as that you have done nothing to disprove my statement. Prove my original statement wrong that anything serious would happen to him if he punched the idiot who messed up his car.

Dont worry I'll wait, because you aint gonna find it. Get over it...son.
You should have spent some of that time in school at Anger Management class. Lighten up, Francis.

I hope the cameras can tell who it was. You can file a police report just so they have it on record, but I'm not sure much else can be done if you can't prove who it was, unfortunately.

Whether he's 18 or not they will definitely suffer if you press charges.

over 18 and they get fined and vandalism on their record.

under 18... well depending on the parents...
Let me put it this way. If my kid ever pulls some shit like that, he won't see daylight for a long while. Thankfully, I'm raising him to be respectful of people and their property.

Now that I think of it, maybe the parents should be held responsible. Teaching your kids not to do stupid shit like that is part of raising them isn't it? I'd be a whole lot less upset at my son for getting in a guy's face and clocking him, than if he keyed someone's whip. Granted, I don't have a teenager, and a whole lot can go wrong once kids start getting influenced by their peers, but man damaging someone's unattended property is about as low as low gets. I REALLY hope you find out who did this.

Not really disputing you or attempting to assume i know anything about the OP as i do not. But, In the state of Florida at least. If the OP had a prior charge of misdemeanor battery a new charge of battery would be considered felony battery 3rd degree most likely. That can carry a 5yr sentence here.

One of my co-workers sons last year was charged with this at age 17 over some issue of his stolen sub box out of his car. He took it upon himself to beat down the "suspect" and broke his eye socket by stomping on his face. His parents spent a good dime on a decent attorney. In the end i believe he essentially got 1yr probation with the agreement his record would be wiped if he remained trouble free for that 1yr. If not then it would immediately become a felony and he would be doing time not only for any additional charge but for a violation of probation terms along with the original charge sticking to his record as a felony.

At least that is what i got from his parents. We talked about this a lot during the course of the whole thing.

Yes it assumes prior issues and "possible" future ones but, i guess it certainly could end up being a major charge.

His parents are also fighting a lawsuit from the other kids parents.
