From what I know...

As long as your dealer has input you in OrderWORKBENCH and you have your confirmation number, he has to do nothing. Most dealers assigned priority numbers to the orders as they were placed. The GM system will pull orders based 1st on priority numbers and 2nd on constraints. If pr# 1 and 2 are V6 it would automatically bypass those based on the current V6 constraints and go to pr#3, etc...

Apparently they're changing it from only a dealer installed item to either factory or dealer installed...

But if they are changing it to RPO instead of LPO wouldn't that mean it's still only going to be dealer installed?

I thought all RPO items were ordered and installed at the dealer after the fact

No, RPO- Regular Production Option

The Hurst was LPO.

Jeff, my man, it isn't actually on constraint. They're in the process of switching it over from an LPO dealer installed item to an RPO factory installed item. I don't think it'll be long until we'll have the RPO code and it can be ordered in Workbench. Of course, it can still be ordered over-the-counter GMPP as soon as that starts up, and that too should be soon.

Gotcha, so I just mixed up the 2, eh?

It's funny though on page 13 of the initital Order workbook it shows:

Hurst Short Throw Shifter (RPO Code VYV)
Be sure to give your manual Camaro an improved
performance and feel with this iconic accessory.

Guess I forgot it was changed from RPO to LPO to begin with. Now it's changing back.

Hmmmm, maybe I'm all confused too...

But, RPO is definitely factory installed...

Edit-> looks like the ordering workbook is messed up. The BOLD letters on that page distinctly say "CAMARO ACCESSORIES LPOs" and the fine print on the lower right talks about them being dealer-ordered LPO accessories yet everything there is listed as an RPO...

workbook also shows:

"Some of the available dealer-ordered LPOs are listed below with their respective RPO codes. Look out for additional LPOs that become available throughout the model year."

So I guess it's just an RPO code for an LPO item, lol...confusing...either way I'm sure there will be a new code for the Hurst by the time my order is pulled. Once they annouce it I can just have the dealer add it back into my order and I should get my car from the factory Hurst ready.

I talked to my dealer tonight about the color and shifter issues, this is what I was told...

Because I am number 3 and they are getting two the first month, mine won't be affected by the CGM fiasco because the time coincides with the second run.

As far as the shifter... the last information he heard was that it could add apprx. 2 to 4 weeks delay if the shifters are left on the order. Needless to say mine won't be on the sticker either.

Getting close though............................................ ..................

I'm sure all the stripe kits will have to get new codes too if they will all be factory installed now, just like the Hurst.

Does it really suprise anyone that GM can F--k this up. It is going out of business and can NOT figure out why. You got 10,000 sold cars. Build them. Build them as they were ordered. A SOLD car is money in the bank. Pissing people off is par for the course and does not suprise me one bit. White shirts have a really tough time figureing things out. The SS is the choice and in most demand. BUILD it. We will drive it and GM will sell a few more. Anytime you try to bring logic into a discussion with white shirts you are doomed to failure and frustration. If you are a white shirt do not bother to reply because you really would not understand anyway.
