The other major sponsor of the track day is another domestic after market company.

By opening it up to others, we can lower the cost and/or provide more activities. Plus, we can have a lot of fun with grudge matches (we put a pretty good hurtin' on the Mustangs during Pony Wars). There were over 400 cars at Camaro Fest, and I personally got in about 8 runs, and could have done more, but that was enough for me. I also got in about the same at Pony Wars. Everytime I have been up there, this track has been exceptionally well managed and capable of handling 100's of cars.

I know that I will be working on securing a host hotel. I plan on having an escorted cruise to the track and hotel security for 2 nights, which don't come for free. However, my goal is about a total cost of about $50, and we are hoping to be able to provide track entry, possibly AutoX, police escorted cruise, and armed security at the host hotel for 2 nights. I personally feel like that's a pretty good deal.

Sounds good.

We usually stayed at the La Quinta next to the Hooters.

Point is, as a possibility, I think limiting it to 2010+ Camaros will make the day more manageable and give racers more jaunts down the track. I usually got in 15-20 runs and the day cost maybe $50. With a bunch of Camaros, we could bring that cost down. With any American muscle car, the cost might be low at the expense of waiting in the staging lines.

I heard Pony Wars was fun, but how many runs did everyone get in? Do we want just another Pony Wars or an exclusive Camaro event?

Just some ideas, Padre

We tried to have an exclusive Camaro event about this time last year, and although about 60 signed up, only about 35 showed, which made it difficult to meet the $$ obligations I had committed to, as I had based those commitments on the number of folks signed up. While it would be awesome to turn this into a "CamaroFest East"....and it still can be for all intents and purposes. We can have our own host hotel, we can have an exclusive cruise if we want, and we can all hang together, just like we would at any Camaro Event. However, it would be nice to have other brands to help absorb some of the costs and it really does make it even more fun. We can possibly get some other sponsors and exhibitors. Plus, at the same time that my group had started putting out feelers for a Fall meet at SGMP, so had the Steeda folks, so it really makes sense to combine the two events.

I have NO problem handling a CamaroFest style event, although I've noticed that if the event can't say "CamaroFest" a lot of people won't take it seriously. The only thing that makes CamaroFest work----is attendees. So if we can get the attendees....we can have our own Camaro Octoberfest!!!!

Yes...the LaQuinta is on the list of possibles, along with the Holiday Inn (Host Hotel for Camaro5Fest and SE Blowout). Advantages to the LaQuinta are free breakfast and free drinks from 6-8. Unfortunately, the Hooters has closed. :(

Advantages to the Holiday Inn are more (and I think better) parking, and a bar that is open past 8:00. Only one free drink, but we had a LOT of fun in there last fall...

I will do my best to consider all things and get the best bang for our bucks....however, feel free to chime in with your opinions.

Y'all trust me.....I GOT this!! LOL --- I will make sure that it is a beyond awesome event.

I think with Camaro in the name we will not see as many other makes & models. Competition is a good thing.

Thanks for putting in the time and effort to make this happen!

I agree, for the OFFICIAL event title, but on this board, I think we will have to do something like....Pony Wars Fall aka Camaro Octoberfest, so that people will OPEN the thread, look at it, and see what it's all about. I believe Pony Wars ran into several participation issues:

1) Many people didn't open the thread because it didn't really look like a Camaro event
2) One week after Camaros for Heros
3) Two weeks before Camaro5Fest II.

Hopefully by picking the right name, and having at a time of the year when nothing else is going on....we will have tremendous attendance.

Cool.

Terribly sad to hear that the Hooters has closed.

How about "October LaunchFiesta"? (Some of our races used to be called "Launch Fest".)

We are in very good hands with acatlover heading the logistics of host hotel and escort. She did an awesome job for the event in Nov and got everyone organized at the host hotel for Pony Wars.

when we figure out the title and logistics, we also need to post it outside of this section (southeast)...maybe have a link or thread in the Drag Racing section, open to all C5Forum members...

Once we get the details nailed down, there's a couple other Camaro/firebird forums im on that i'll post.

My wife and I we're extremely pleased w the La Quinta for Pony Wars and would really like.to stay there again. Can't beat that 2 hr open bar and breakfast for the price! Rooms were nice too! We usually only stay at Hiltons when we travel, but this was very adequate!

Although parking was a bit tight, we have the "old" Hooters lot we can use where Dominick ended up parking the first night.

Where's the Holiday Inn you mentioned? Location of the La Quinta was good- walking distance to Road House and liquor store, as well as simply cuttig across the mall parking lot to get to all the other restaurants.
