Well, it was putting the then-truck engines into passenger cars that sparked the muscle car movement in the first place. Maybe the best way to bring it back WOULD be to use a diesel engine. I'm all for it, personally.

thanks for the comments guys.
A few details about the car. I built the car with my two bare hands. Everything from the ground up 4L80E with shift kit 6.5L turbo diesel engine, newer 506 block, newer heads about 60k on a rebuild Cummins HX-35W turbocharger rear mounted, 40 mm External Wastegate, 3-4 psi cruise, 8-12 half throttle, WOT about 18 psi. Air to air intercooled 120 gph lift pump Racor 2 micron 90 gph fuel filter RcI fuel cell Weight reduction HO Water Pump, Dual thermostats Electric Fans Large Oil and Trans Cooler hO injection Pump 4 point roll bar by me Full Rear suspension, need a 12 bolt though Dyno and 1/4 mile results this Spring when it gets nice. For now it's my DD. Cody

Europe has had diesel engines which put out 60+mpg and are very powerful. Thanks to our hippie standards, we cannot use those engines because their not "clean diesel"

my inspiration?....can't say
I did have a brainstorm about 4 years ago in Tech College for building a Diesel Camaro. It wasn't until I graduated and settled down that I was able to do it. BTW, you know that Diesel Vette, is fake right? mine is real.
