Automatic V6

Is the only way to order a V6 auto is to add the 6 speed tapshift package?

There isn't a tapshift package, tapshift comes standard with the automatic. The option for the automatic is called "Six-speed automatic transmission with Tapshift control".

It feels great. It feels firm and strong without being too heavy. I don't think anyone will wish they got an automatic. Everything feels really really good to me... I'm very impressed with the way it all came together and can't wait to get my own.... I've just driven early production models before the actual dealer models went on line. I think everyone will be very pleased with the way it feels unless you're expecting a Lotus or Miata feel... the Camaro feels big and fast and strong in every respect, not really TOO big but you definitely wouldn't want it any bigger.

... if the car is a daily drive... which mine will have to be... there are soem compelling arguments for the auto. My current driver is a '07 Mustang GT with the the 5-speed stick. I prefer a manual gearbox... better control and a better driving experience. However, a good auto box with some form of paddle shifters and a relatively unbtrusive controller makes for a better all-around daily driver. In the case of the Camaro, you're also getting fuel mileage as good or better than the manual gearbox and, lastly... the auto is made in the USA.

Where are the manual transmissions made?

I haven't decided which transmission I want yet. Though I do know my car will be a V6. I have owned 3 cars in my lifetime, 2 of which were automatics and my one manual was a 1988 Dodge Omni (real power there). Am leaning more towards the manual though, but will not know for sure until I actually go and place my order.

Made by Aisin, a Japanese firm. They have many plants in the U.S., but I don't know which one makes the Camaro's 6-speed.

Limited slip differential and l99

Sorry for the randomness of the question but what is limited slip differential and is l99 the auto for the ss?

Do you want the limited slip differential?

Limited slip differential makes sure power goes to both drive wheels. With a more common "open" differential, one tire can spin while the other does not.

L99 is the V8 engine in the automatic SS.

Everyone wants it, though few people realize there is one advantage to open differentials (besides cost): in slippery conditions, having both rear wheels lose traction can cause a slide, whereas if only one wheel loses traction then you might never notice. However, many people do not intend to drive their Camaros in slippery conditions, so for them there's NO advantage (besides cost).

I had orderd my car as a manual. Changed it to an Auto after only one week on order. I then waited 3 months and changed it back to a manual only one week before it was pulled.
