That death truck (A black dodge truck with a viper engine.. SRT10) that's been going around my area.... he's got a 4 speed automatic I think. Either that or the ghost demon that drives it is so smooth you can't see him shift.

He burned me so bad.... it was like a road runner cartoon skit "beep beep".

What it comes down to ultimeately is personal preference. My dad thinks I'm a bit nuts for wantin a muscle car with manual transmission sinc he traditonally prefers automatic on american cars. I on the other hand would never get the automatic since I love the feeling of shifting.

All up to what YOU want.

tl;dr so if anyone else has said this my bad.

Get a buddy with a manual to show you how to drive one. Get decent at it. Go to a dealership and pretend to be interested in both the auto and manual of a single car and ask for a test drive in both. It'll help you get the difference in drive feel on the same car. And if you can still change you order, change it based on your driving impression.

Driving this car as an automatic? Might as well be driving your moms car

Don't worry about not being good at it...you'll learn. Daily driver for me and MANUAL all the way.
Close- the MAIN reason for me to get a manual is my wife doesn't drive stick...

Just from my own personal experience:

I owned a 94 Z28 6-speed that I absolutely loved but it was a "base" model. I traded it in on a new 96 fully-loaded Z28- leather, t-tops, the works- but it was an automatic. I could now do brake torques without needing 3 feet on the pedals !!! That wow factor lasted about a week and I kicked myself in the ass for 8 years for not getting another manual. It was still a great car, and a lot of fun, but missing that "smile to yourself" wow factor... Then I traded it in on the GTO- had a stick again- WOOHOO- but not a Camaro- BOOHOO.

Now I have (very soon) both again.

anyone dissing an automatic who has never driven a stalled auto doesnt have a leg to stand on in this conversation

Well said. I would also add, if you get the LS auto with steelies and no options, you chose (for whatever reasons) a great car.

I might poke fun at the kiddies with their too loud honda's, but if they can carry on a half-way intelligent conversation about cars without acting 'gangsta' they can sit at my booth.

There's always someone faster than you no matter what you get, just enjoy what you can afford and get what YOU want, not what someone else says is cool. That in itself, is cool.

I got a automatic too. because I live in town. I also have a 68 w/ a 502 motor, automatic and very fast. Look at it this way, you have a camaro and that's all that matters.
