Not to be a ball buster in your time of greif, but is everyone on your block Amish or something? What is with all of the black cars?

Hail is my biggest fear...I live here in Tornado Ally...we put our stuff inside at the slightest hint of hail. Hope it works out with the insurance company...and have them replace the roof on the house while they are at it...that hail was big enough to ruin shingles.

That's where my WW2 German helmet would come in handy! I also have a WW2 US Army helmet but if I'm gonna be running around in a hail storm like a nut, Ima do it in style!

Sorry to see that. Lond Island got pelted too for a few hours with hail and heavy rain. I was driving home in it, thankfully not in the Camaro

Sorry, bud. We had some hail storms come through the area yesterday that I was worried would damage my Camaro here at work. I got lucky that it moved about 5 miles south. I hope everything works out for you. Keep us up to date on what happens.

When I lived in NY I didn't have a garage and we would get storms like that every so often. A guy at a body shop told me that the best thing you can do is take carpeting and cover the car with the nice soft side obviously on the paint with the underside of the carpet facing the sky. I've done this in hail storms with golf ball sized hail and the car was perfect.

If putting a carpet on your car isn't an option, I would consider something like this:

Sorry to see this happened to you.

Dude, that is just not cool. Sorry about your car, but mother nature is a B^T(H. I always keep my rides in the garage b/c I know this NY weather is very unpredictable. To bad we don't have force fields yet! you could just lock your car, walk away and nothing including hail could get through!

No pics up here yet but my car looks like the surface of the moon after that same storm. I work in Lake Success on LI and the golfball sized hail was here too.

Preliminarily they have to replace my hood, roof, and trunklid and paint the whole car.

And no they aren't going to total it for that, probably about $10,000 worth of damage though.

Pics to come this evening.

Huh? I guess this question would make sense if they were all black horses instead of cars...

crazy weather
My office in in Lake Success/New Hyde Park. Every single car in the lot is wrecked. :(

Sorry this happened, man! Gotta say I would have thrown on a hat and coat, grabbed the comforters off a couple of beds and covered my car. The Mrs. wouldn't have been happy, but I'd a sprung for some replacements.

What a helpless feeling it must have been.

I did! It was crazy.

I guess I can say that is one positive about not having the Camaro anymore. my Civic took a good beating tho. I would have died if I was driving my Camaro. GL in getting it fixed/replaced
