Cool Russ, glad you're coming!! The island tour sounds fantastic but I think it's a little far for this trip. Def something to consider tho. Can you belive I grew up in northern Ohio and have never been to the Islands

So, I took the ideas posted so far and mapped out a tentative route. Take a look and let me know.

I think Grimes Field in Urbana would be a good place for everyone to meet. There is plenty of parking and a small restaurant if anyone wanted to get breakfast. Also there is a museum with a restoration of a B-17 in progress if anyone is interested. The museum opens at 10:00.
We could plan to leave Grimes at 11:00 tour the bridges, caverns, etc. and get a meal at Der Dutchman around 3:30 or 4:00.

I don't think we can make it to Olentangy Indian Caverns unless we change the routing since they close at 5:00.

Added a link to the map.

I'm not getting a good feeling, when the service advisor asked me what the hell I did, and he seemed pretty shocked. I am going to push the issue to get a Camaro or Vette as my rental, that way I can still play with my friends.

Not a chance you'll get a Vette even a Camaro is a stretch. You'll be in a Cruze or Malibu.

I can jump one of those as well. There is a clause in my insurance about a like vehicle and it gave an example, I am having trouble finding that paperwork now. It was something along the lines of same year or newer, and same model. I have the highest level of rental they offer, it goes no rental, and then three levels, I have the high one. So I better get something cool.

Good question. Hopefully wwddnnone will let us know. I wouldn't want to drive any gravel or freshly tarred & graveled roads. Some roads near my home have been recently tarred & graveled so I've been avoiding them.

These roads are all paved or some form of tar & chip that has been down for a while. With the cooler temps in late October, I don't think there will be a problem. Some of the roads tend to be narrow and we will have to watch traffic, but again nothing that will be a problem.

Any feedback on the route itself? Do we want to take out one of the cavern stops?

Once we finalize the route, I will pre-run it again to make sure there aren't any surprises.
