Huge thumbs up to this forum and this thread. I'm pretty good with my money but completely overlooked how much I was paying for insurance. 21, single male, Los Angeles, not the best zipcode (police helicopters are a common sight), driving lots of miles, 1 speeding ticket - $1600 for 6 months with Esurance. When I first got my car it was $2000 for 6 months.

I did a quote with progressive and that brought it down to a little less than $1000 with lower deductibles. That's $1200 a year I can spend on my camaro!

age 50 State Farm full coverage $598 annual premium

Note: got the free annual insurance at purchase, but the above premium was agent's quote if GM hadn't over-paid for 1 yr's insurance through Met-Life as a promo.

31 yrs old I pay $100 a month which for max coverage USAA offers is awesome. I have a high deductible tho to help lower my overall price.
Max coverage on everything w/ $1000 deductible

Bodily Injury Liability (If you hurt someone in an auto accident, we'll help pay up to $1,000,000/$1,000,000 per person/per accident
Property Damage Liability (If you damage someone else's property in an auto accident, we'll help pay up to) $100,000

If you don't put a lot of miles on your car, you might check with some of the specialty car insurers like Hagerty or Grundy.
