Well here are some hard #'s for me to take to heart from the Edmounds payment calculator:
SRT8 - $41,491 + $3,432 CA Tax + $622 Title/Registration $8,000 down 72 months @ 9% interest $676.60 pr month $12,000 down $604.50 pr month Camaro 2SS/RS - $36,021 + $2,972 CA Tax + $540 Title/Registration $8,000 down 72 months @ 9% interest $568.39 pr month R/T - $31,379 + $2,589 CA Tax + $471 Title/Registration $8,000 down 72 months @ 9% interest $476.57 pr month It looks like the SRT8 is pushing it for me, I only can afford $888 a month reasonably every month including insurance but if I max that out mods would be difficult :( I mean gawd, even putting $12K down (most I have) instead of $8K barely made a dent in the SRT8's payment! I may as well save the other $4K for mods right off the bat for only $70 a month savings! Grundy.com says though that they will insure an SRT8 for me for only $731 a YEAR. Is that right? $60 a month?! That would be $736 a month for an SRT WITH $50K agreed value coverage.

I'm making this decision. So far I think I'm getting Camaro simply because it's faster and cheaper.
but, the Challenger interior is great, super comfy seats, gps, etc. High quality. It's a hard choice! The Challenger has a more muscly look too.

Get the Challenger R/T...4/10's of a sec 0 to 60 is not much off a Camaro SS (5.1 to 4.7)

OK, I say Camaro, just because I don't want a replica from the 60s... which to me, is what the Challenger is. If that's what you want, then it's a beautiful car... I know my Dad loves it, he has a '73 Cuda (340 not hemi). The Camaro is just more my style though, not to mention the price is way better for very similiar/slightly better performance.
As an aside, I read this entire thread, and your sister thread on the Challenger forums... I noticed a much more honest and open-minded group of people here regarding the competition. To me arguments like, "you get what you pay for" and "the camaro looks like crap" or "get the hemi because of it's history" hold absolutely no water... and if I had to choose based on the crowd alone, I'd pick the camaro5 crowd. Regardless, if you can wait, I'd say what many others are saying, drive both, and you should know hands down after that, I'd think. Best of luck. |

I would get the Camaro merely based on the fact that the apparent 'pet name' for Challenger is 'Chally' which sounds totally homo.
Should we call the Camaro, Cammy? lmao. seriously though, love the Challenger styling, the RT is a pretty good value, but I'm GM to the bone.
