They are made of "special" stainless steel.

The obvious answer here is that there is a huge difference in business models. Kooks, ARH, and SW all design their headers here, make them in the US with US sourced steel, and labor, and then selling it with an actual warranty and support. That costs a lot more than copying someones header, getting it made in China between runs of Walmart lawn furniture, and dumping it on ebay. The machine Kooks uses to map and engine bay, and design a headers is alone the price of a few ZL1's.

I am really trying to stay out of here..but I really take offense to someone insinuating that American companies are overcharging and the bad guy when the reality is, they are getting completely ripped off. The attitude people are taking is seriously going to lead to where you cannot buy US made anything anymore.

Oh man, you pulled the "I only buy USA" card. Well I guess that didn't apply when you bought a australian designed, canadian built car with parts on it from all over the world, including china. Gm buys its steel from the lowest bidder, probably china or germany. I could go on but I think you can see the hypocrisy im getting at. We live in a global market and while your argument is noble its also not going to change that fact.
You claim OBX stole from Kooks, why doesn't kooks sue them? Prove it in a court of law, not on here. Vanilla ice stole from queen, but I bet you still listen to ice ice baby at a party....I do...lol.

Again, this could be debated till the end of time. Its not going to change anything, the point of this thread was so I could let other members know I was happy with purchase. People are going to buy what they feel best suits them. That's the whole purpose of a free market.

P.s. if you want I could open a "us made vs chinese made" thread and we could debate till we are blue in the face. If we do that though, I think we should take bets in how long it takes for that thread to be locked...lol.

No..the guy asked why American headers are so much expensive and I explained it. I explained about a zillion times that it is exceedingly expensive to get a design patent on something as limited production as a header. Even more expensive to enforce. And you think headers cost alot now? I really don't care if someone wants to make headers in China..just design your own stuff. Don't steal the design of a product I sell, make inferior copies, and then expect me to sit on my hands while people pimp it as the greatest thing since sliced bread. Bottom line is, these are the fake Rolex of the header world. Maybe they fit, and maybe they tell time...maybe whoever bough them thinks they are a baller gaming the system and saving money. Does not mean it's right.
