Me on the other hand, probably will not get to the track as much as I would like. Plus the AMS1000 is awfully large and there will be a bit of a learning curve to using it.

I like the AEM controller because it will fit nicely in a gauge pillar and still offeres all the basic contols as the AMS.

My eyes are glued to this thread!
Speedster posted a link showing a NRE install of the AMS1000 in a center console. I need to find that...

Edit... here it is. Go to 4:35 to see the AMS1000 in the center console. (Thanks, speedster.)

The "its just money" was definitely a joke as I know as well as anyone how much builds like hurt the bank account. You have definitely done everything the correct way and that will payoff in the long run for you. I cant wait to see this thing complete and see you out enjoying all your effort and time spent on this project. Its amazing how many quality builds are being done this year and is so exciting to see all of these camaros built. And they say the economy is down

Got the info on the cage today. It will delay getting my car back by quite a long time. He can't get the cage into the shop until mid Feb. and can't promise it back until mid April. Then, IPS would put seats, etc. back in and the engine, tranny, etc.

I think that would mean I'd likely not have the car back to me until late May at best...

I'm going over to IPS tomorrow to have a look at a Vette with a 10 point cage done by the same shop (the Atomic Fusion car... some of you may know it. )

Absolutely stunning! Thank you for the engine porn! Your car was one of the first that I had seen when I first joined the forum. I was impressed then and even more so now. Glad you're going to run her when she's done. I have nothing against anyone who only builds for show but I personally like tracking my car. I hope to build a "Mini Darth Emma" here in the near future. My 427 block from ERL has been ordered. Watching your build will temper my nail biting while I'm waiting for my own. You are building a true "Death Star"!

No problem. Sorry I had to send you a text from the truck.

Two things. 1) It will likely take longer than they schedule. Always does. 2) For the safety post, a cage is only one piece. You also need as a minimum: window safety net, external battery cutoff switch, transmission blanket, driveshaft safety loop, SFI rollbar padding, NHRA Competition License, etc. When you drop into the single digits, things change. Just some items to consider.

Thanks, I knew about most of those (I have heard of the license, but not looked into the details yet). I've had conversations with the builder about them. But, the cage is what I need to address fir$t.

I may just have to see if I can get into single digits and get myself thrown out of a track someday...

A cage install is a major undertaking as the entire interior is removed to accomplish this but is a must in a car such as yours. I would take a good look at Carlyles vette as it is the fastest IRS car in the country and you will see what it takes to go that fast. His car is badass in person and at the track.

Thanks. Mark's car is amazing. I've had a good look at it at IPS several times, but I've never really had a close look at the cage. The mechanic who built Mark's car is doing my car too and we're going to discuss the cage in some detail tomorrow.

I know I need to do the cage... it's a matter of working out the details.

That code-red is sick. Love all the fancy technology; I'm sure it's definately a huge learning curve to start messing with that programmer for boost control on the gearing. Wow.

Fortunately, IPS has experience programming the AMS1000. They say that it is THE best drag racing boost controller available right now.
