Huh... prices, specifications, & extra fees all subject to change without notice? So you could think you just agreed for a 2SS for $40k and he could try to swap it for an LS for $45k?

Now, how many times have you and I discussed this very issue, and every time you've told me GM can't do this due to franchise laws and other things, well now they are doing it in no uncertain terms. Apparently GM will cover things like buying back unsold inventory, and paying for unsold parts, equipment, and some signage. But there will be no more money to pay for anything else. In other words, tough luck if any dealer tries to file a lawsuit.

THIS is what GM should have been doing years ago!!!!!!! I am thrilled beyond delight to see that finally scumbag dealerships are going to get the shaft by GM they have deserved for years and years (and please don't try to deny some dealerships need a big shaft where the sun don't shine).

Again, I have nothing against the good guys in this business, and once we erradicate the bad apples that give the good ones a bad name, EVERYONE will benefit!

Oh trust me!

I think we're going to attempt to weed out the bad ones - BUT -- it won't be easy as those laws are still laws. Chapter 11 would probably change everything -- but again, I'm not an attorney.

I believe that there will be court cases -- many of them -- over this --

Time will tell --

But yes, up to this point, Franchise laws prohibited us from just terminating a dealership...........

I've read and heard from dealers that GM and the govt. have worked alot of this out already, and the dealers will basically remain powerless to fight it no matter what laws are on the books - which, it sounds to me that since the mighty lawyers have been on this case since January, they have found every little loop hole in those existing franchise laws that GM will succeed in doing this whether or not they go through bankruptcy, and the dealers will have no course to file suit against GM because they are approaching the situation under the laws that exist.

Let me be very clear: I hate to see people loose their jobs and small business get closed up and yanked out from under by big business..... but customer service and positive product representation is so vital for GM now more than it ever was, and any dealer, no matter who they are or how long they've been in business, or where they are located, that those who do not meet the most demanding, highest level of customer satisfaction GM cannot afford to keep associating with them.
