I usually get no trouble from the ricers, then again, there arent many here in Laramie. Its always the 4th Gen camaro's and firebirds that have something to prove.I gues they just like to pretend their car came with a supercharged LS1, and after I beat them in less than a 1/16 mile, they give up and stop trying to race me. So far, I've beat every one (not in a race, thats illegal) and they've left me alone, but something tells me once spring rolls around they'll be back. There's also alot of turbo-desils and bro-dozers here but they just blow smoke and race eachother.

today I think it's pretty much used to describe your run of the mill compact car that the owner installed some bolt on's and mods or other crap to make it look like it's faster than it is. usually civics, neons, and stuff like that. mostly kids that watched the fast and furious too many times.
Thanks for taking the time to explain. I Googled (yes, shoulda first) and answered my own question, and then some: http://riceorama.com/

Hasn't happened yet, of course I've only had her two weeks come next Tuesday. I'm not concerned though. I usually laugh it off b/c I have nothing to prove and street racing is stupid anyway. The only time I give her gas is when there is wide open space, and then only just a little bit.

I don't wanna be that a hole w/ the Camaro that drives like a jerk.

Who cares? I mean it's all in good fun and it doesn't hurt you in any way. I've had more people in muscle cars try to race me than riced out civics.

I like to call the american "tuner cars" like neons, focus', and any american car that looks like the one in your pic "wheat burners".

Ive had a few throw revs at me at stoplights, but I laugh it off. When I look over at them they kind of laugh as well..

...had a gorgeous Challenger SRT8 run me down (I was at 60 in a 45...), and we gave each other the 'nice car nod/thumbs up'..

I had a local guy with a trans am that wanted to race my old mustang... Never got the chance but did laugh in his face when he told me he was gonna blow the doors off my mustang with his trans am with a lid and minor mods. He didn't like that much...

Not only ricers but other people who all of a sudden want to be race car drivers.

I had an annoying buzzing sound next to my car yesterday when I was coming back from Phoenix. I thought something was wrong with my car until I looked over and it was a riced out Civic with tin can mufflers.

Mostly, it seems to be Toyota Tacomas that pull up next to me. Not sure what that's about.

Here, the CAMARO is an import not a domestic.

An SS, fully loaded from factory retails for about USD$60,000.00

Yep, that's SIXTY GRAND!!!

For comparison purposes:

- An SS CAMARO with full extras retails in the same price range of an AUDI A5 equally spiced up.

- A Mercedes C63 is just a couple of grands away price wise (and that IS the top of the line series "C" Merc)

An SS is totally a status symbol here, if you are so inclined. A friend of mine who is in the automoblie industry says the CAMARO SS, in coupe or convertible version, is "an aspirational car" for above-average-professional-individuals here and in the rest of the region.

To me that status part is pure BS...

While I acknowledge that the car has several luxury items, great lines and several people have said it has "impossing presence", I was drawn to it because of its exceptional capabilities as a true pony car.

See... context is everything. Here the car and the house match up!!

Drive safe, enjoy the journey!
