Same boat myself. I think GM could offer to cover the labor at the dealership and let us buy this upgrade. Seems fair to me.

That's funny, it does suck that the '12 won't have this.

I realize that some people might never pull the trigger on a purchase if they just keep holding out for the latest stuff, but this type of thing happens with every new model. These types of things are the reason that I didn't want to get the first model year for the ZL1. I learned my lesson after getting my 2010. You will miss out on some cool features just to have the latest and greatest right away. I can wait til the 2013 model year to get the options that I want. I'm also holding out that there might be a few additional color options.

It's funny because I use a Garmin 3590LMT (which is sweet) in a fancy sports car with a built in Nav system.

Garmin knows what they are going when it comes to GPS Nav... GM, not so much. But they make a pretty awesome car

Would you rather use this:

or this

Maybe 2013 will bring GM up in the GPS world, but since it takes about 4 years to go from concept to production... you better stick with a real GPS company.
That is exactly the point I was trying to make to Tag last night, Ford Sync/MyTouch and Chrysler/Dodge UConnect look way better visually than MyLink but obviously as long as it does it's job right the fact that it looks like the ugly step-sister doesn't matter.

I'm not sure this was a great announcement on GM's part... Considering the situation, I think maybe they should've been a little more sensative to the QC-car-owners...

However... Maybe that was the idea... Maybe they want to show the people who couldn't order a special '12 that the '13 is going to have some improvements and make it a little special. That doesn't really make sense to me, and I'm sure I'm wrong, but surely GM's considered the implications of the annoucement.

I don't think '12 ZL1s will get it. OR - perhaps that's why there's a hold... I honestly don't know and that's just a stupid thought off the top of my head.

FWIW...

i dont think the issue is with the latest technology coming out on a newer ride, i think it has more to do with the ZL1 being billed as the camaro top dog, and yet this 1LE is going to have a nicer entertainment package when the Z isn't even out yet. I guess theres always after-market equipment.

Agreed............but usually I would have my first model year car before the next one came out with upgrades. I was happily driving around in my 2010 SS months before we knew what was going in the 2011.

I bet the 1LE will nearly beat the ZL1 around a track too, considering it won't suffer from the problems on a track that a 4,100lb, supercharged car will.....

Interesting point. It still remains to be seen how much ZL1 is affected by heat (assuming that's what you mean ). Considering the 24-hour endurance testing (cummulative), it would seem since they're running whole tanks of fuel at a time, if there were a problem, they might have found it. Also - considering the relatively low boost LSA is pushing, it might not be too much. It has a supposed higher-efficiency upper plenum and freer-flowing exhaust which I would think might help with some heat problems.

Excellent point, but it's at a pretty fair power disadvantage. Unless it weighs a lot less than SS, I'm not sure it will have the balance ZL1 has, by viture of it's iron rear diff' and aero' tricks. I'm only guessing and throwing that out there. I never want ANY model CAMARO to be limited in performance, so if it is faster, then GREAT!!!

It looks to be near the same weight as the SS but it also doesn't have a horsepower boost as of being announced yet. So in short it doesn't really have any advantage over the 302LS in the power/weight department, though with a crap driver it's likely you wouldn't see the difference between the two cars, the IRS would probably help the worse driver because he/she/it would be able to control the car more in corners than a professional would be able to with the SRA. It will likely be like the SS and the GT someone who can drive will beat the Camaro but in a case of the Mustang driver can drive then the Camaro will decimate it.

Of course lets not turn this into the circle jerk that the ZL1 forum was by bench racing, wait until we know more until we throw out the obligatory 302 LS Sux's/Camaro RULZ Nonsense, let the facts speak for themselves, I'm sure the Camaro will be more than just adequate....

I am frustrated and feel cheated by GM. My ZL1 was buit 1.5 m ago and it's sitting out in the open. First, you put us on hold for what it will soon be 2 months, with no updates. Second, you use the wheels of a ZL1 on the 1LE, taking away its uniqueness. Then you give the 13MY a 7" touch screen with Nav and more importantly rear view camera on the big screen. That makes a huge difference when you back up - trust me. What else are you hiding?

Can you justify why someone should still get a 12MY when a 13MY is 2 months away?? Will the 13MY cost 3k+ more? What am I missing and what's up with this cr*p? I will certainly have a fit with the dealer, even though I realize they're in the middle. Maybe I'll just change my order...
