The camaro demands concentration in my opinion, glad to see you're okay, man those air bags came in handy!

While this is all gratuitous at this point...

1. Your car is totaled.

2. You're lucky you didn't kill someone.

Heed that last bit very, very closely. You think killing yourself would be messed up? It's nothing compared to killing someone else.

Not sure your insurance company would be too happy with your admitting to guilt on the internet.

But, it sounds like you did so at the scene, too.

It IS a safe car. Excellent job, GM.

That's going to be a total...and if it wasn't...I'd plead with the adjuster/estimator/body shop to try and make it do so. No way in hell I'd want that car back after that much damage.

Also, PLEASE pay attention out there. I once didn't double check my mirrors in my '98 S10. Came over on a Buick LeSabre. Got pushed around and went backwards into a parking lot. It looked like a text book PIT maneuver. Truck needed a right bed side and door skin, fixed a dent in the front fender and cab corner. A 5 years later or so, we still have that truck. I've always made sure to double check my mirrors since. Especially in the Camaro.

That car did it's job well. Kept you safe. Don't try for a next time, especially not with yourself at fault.

Yea, my neighbor rolled his SS seven times and walked away. He was sore, but nothing broken or leaking, heh.

Just a heads up about insurance, I totaled my 03 Lightning head on through a telephone pole. The police report only said "Conditions: Rain" but got a careless driving ticket because of property damage (telephone pole). It was a total loss + cost of telephone pole. No one else involved and no injuries. Insurance went way up at first (Geico) but I panicked and got a quote through Progressive right away. They actually got me back to my normal amount. Six months later I go back to Geico and pay less than I did before my total loss. So I never once paid more for insurance for my total loss. Lucky? I take that as a gift and second chance. I'm extra super duper careful with 450ft/lbs of torque with no weight in the ass end now in the rain (make sure that boost gauge never leaves vacuum). So don't really get too down and out yet about insurance. Get other quotes from other companies and screw the Civic. I wrecked my 03 Lightning on a Thursday and had a 04 on the following Monday (would of had it on Saturday if I didn't forget my license at home and the dealer was 2 hours from home.)

Goodluck with insurance, getting a new car (Camaro of course! ) and just be extra careful in the future.

I know everyone complains about the weight of these cars (myself included) but they seem to be built like little tanks. What do you think the outcome would've been had the OP been driving a 'vette?

You forgot the part in there where you were texting instead of driving.

On behalf of all of us who don't text and drive, THANK YOU for giving insurance companies another scenario to prove their case to increase our rates.

You WERE a Camaro owner, you're supposed to be smarter than this.

Get a good attorney, that guy is going to sue your a** off!!!
