I'm not exactly sure how to take that comment to tell you the truth.. I do show my car and even won an award at the Chicago World of Wheels show this year. I do DD this car and I take it on to the tracks.. So, while I do run my car hard, I do care what it looks like.. The Borla Touring and the SLP LM 2 axle backs I have had fit just fine. They were centered in my lower valance openings, didn't stick out any farther than the OEM tips and didn't sag or otherwise fit improperly.

Honestly, most of the name brand after market kits I've personally seen on many differently configured Camaros fit just fine... Unless they were installed improperly, which really isn't a fault of the mfg.

The stock exhaust is heavy but that's what happens when you use rigid thick 409 SS versus thin & brittle 304 SS. Like most things it's a trade off and both have advantages and disadvantages.

As for looks after trying out several different exhausts I'd rather look at the big mufflers versus silly tips or poor fitment.

Come on, don't get an exhaust with silly tips and poor fitment. Most the quality exhausts out there look way better than stock and fit great.
And the stock mufflers are over sized, very heavy, and don't look good hanging down behind the car.

No offense but my picky and your car show picky are worlds apart. I've fitted all of the stuff you mentioned on three different cars and not one was perfect side to side. But my idea of perfect fit is measured in 32nds and with a square and level. I'll be the first to call my level of picky borderline OCD but that's just how I roll.

That's not borderline. If you're measuring exhaust alignment to 32nds of an inch, then you'll not be satisfied with much.

Well so far I've tried all the GM and Borla stuff as well as SLP. The GMPP tips are grapefruit launchers, the Borlas look like reduced grapefruit launchers and the SLP although having nice tips had silly hangers. I dispise Corsa, won't touch Flowmaster and coldn't be given most others. That and I don't go for loud = fast and the de-accel popping drives me nuts.

I dumped the stock system and went with Dynomax 3" diameter cat back with Bullet straight through mufflers.

Absolutely love the sound, the quality was great and it was an easy install.

Is there any sound difference between an Axle back and a Catback?

True, stock mufflers are over sized and ugly but they are aerodynamic. They reduce drag under the car. When you remove them you have two air scoops. I remember reading a muffler delete with lower 1/4 mile times. He had increased drag, thus slower times. What we need is a diffuser that fills in the scoops when there is an exhuast upgrade.

I know that the Borla/GMPP axle-backs are louder on the factory H-Pipe vesus when behind a Borla X-Pipe.

So... if I was looking to get Long tubes to make a few HP while having a good aggressive muscle car sound would the catback or axleback be more beneficial?
