Manual trannies should be in a race class all their own. The consistency factor takes A LOT of skill. Its fairly simple to put a kid in the drivers seat at the track and when the light hits they stomp the gas. Not much skill involved but just practicing the tree is ALL thats needed. Not bashing autos, because if I was a racing fanatic, obviously autos are the way to go. If I raced and missed a gear, I wouldnt say, "If I hadnt missed that gear, it'd be your ass!" It'd be like, "I missed a gear, the race was over when I did that. Lets race again." But I'll stand by my words and say manuals should have their own class due to the amount of variables and skill involved.
I love manual as it IS more fun to me!

Which transmission did you decide to go with? Either is a great choice and to have an auto will definitely satisfy your wife's needs as well. Please post pictures on which one you decided. On that note, welcome to the Camaro family! Brandon Chevrolet Customer Service

I’m considering the purchase of a 2SS, and I just rented a 2012 Automatic model in Las Vegas last week. It was brand new, with a manufacturing date of 5/12, and had only 5 miles on the clock. We put 1,800 miles on it over 9 days with a trip through Utah and Arizona. I have extensive manual transmission experience, and I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised by the paddle shifting in manual mode. This car has true paddle shifters vs. the buttons on the 2011 model, and the shifts seemed much quicker and smoother than on the older models. On twisty roads with the paddle shifter you’re actually able to achieve a smooth downshift while braking for a corner. While it’s not quite as smooth as a properly executed heel and toe downshift with a manual gear box, it is very close, and it’s a whole lot easier to perform. I’ve driven lots of cars with manumatic transmissions, and this is the first one that could actually produce smooth downshifts. It really was great fun to drive.
If I get a Camaro I’ll probably still opt for a manual car, as I’d hate to leave 26 hp on the table, but if it weren’t for that I might have a tough decision to make. |

In your case the Auto is the best choice and with a Tune, vararam Cold Air Intake, & Borla Atak Catback, It'll be a lot more snappy
