2010 will be ~ 1.5 years of production. that said, there's only been maybe 10,000 camaros made to date with maybe 15,000 preorders (10,000 shipped to date being a subset of that)? I'm guessing sales will slow right down after Sept/Oct too.

So i'm guessing maybe 40,000 cars in 2009 calendar year (slow start + possible supply challenges w/ bankruptcy), and another 40,000 in 2010 until the fall when 2011 models come out. The loss of pre-orders will be made up by people buying off the lot, with possible incentives.

Total guess, 80,000 sold in 1.5 years. I wouldn't be surprised to see 100,000 cars sold if the brand takes off, but this remains to be seen.

After that, it will all depend upon the economy and reliability of the vehicle. Camaro fans and performance enthusiasts will be buying the Camaro in the first few years, after that the car will have to compete based on more practical considerations. this is where I think the mustang has established itself...its reliability and ease of maintenance gets the casual converts ontop of the muscle car guys. I will be interesting to see where GM takes the marketing and advertising of the Camaro long term.

I hope that its a bunch, Chevrolet needs this car NOW! America and the world need this car NOW! I worked at a Chevy dealership in 71-73. Although I couldnt afford one at that time I always wanted one. And swore that one day I would own one. I remember the 174 day UAW strike and how there was talk about killing the Camaro then, it was really depressing to think that they were going to kill such a beautiful car. Now it 2009, the Camaro is still around, and better than ever. Its the perfect car for the times, priced right, still sporty, great mileage. A perfect car for the times!
