Lol I guess. The track is where it goes down. There you cannot make up stuff and say oh he jumped me or that was not a 1/4 mile!! No excuses. Clocks, time slips, and you and the car.

Run what ya brung, and hope ya brung enough !

In the end have fun with what you drive, and perhaps calm down a bit.

The Camaro is DAMN good out of the gate, but will NEED to lose about 200 pds in the near future to stay up in the game. Lets hope the economy goes up and Obamanomics goes down and we'll really see what a pony war can be!!
The ToD for performance cars was pronounced in the year of 2016.../cry

Oh and I completely agree with GL...Vette guys are by far more arrogant. The only people worse are BMW enthusiasts.
ahahaahahaha....true.

I would have to argue that the ricers do rank in arrogancy though. :P

They put as the "Lows" Looks angry, tiny trunk, hard seats, nose deep in a hole feeling. Come on, give me a break, you want looks friendly then buy a Prius. This is a review of pony cars not your mom's station wagon.

Hey guys, Nice cars for sure. Just wanted to point out that the only problem with these "Magazine Drag Races" is that the drivers don't know the cars like us forum junkies. Now I know this Gen 5 SS is new to everyone and they are startin to find out the secrets. I have a 300 SRT8, Which suprizingly is the lightest between the four SRT8 models with the Challenger being the heaviest of the family with the same 6.1 hemi.
Thier 0-60 data alone tells me that the driver was clueless on how to launch the car.
There are also three different stages to select for traction control. With traction control fully engaged, you will experience little if any wheel spin. This mode takes away some torque on the hole shot, and will minimize wheel spin by cutting throttle when needed. It sucks. It also will use the ABS in the turns with slippage.
The second mode is acessed by simply pushing the button on the dah once. This mode disables the use of the ABS control for the TCM feature.
Pushing the button and holding it for 7 seconds will disable the entire system. This is the prefered mode for drags.
The other feature not mentioned and probably not used in this is the Auto Stick feature.
The last item to mention that all SRT8 owner are fully aware of is the fact that the TCM adaptives are reset back to ground zero by simply pulling fuse 11. This wipes out all the "learning" its doing while your sitting in bumper to bumper traffic. After a fresh wipe it runs like a raped ape.
All this said, And I know its alot, these cars are a little overlooked.

One thing you gotta love is that they put a hidden "Easter Egg"
0-60 timer in the car. Bone stock I was only seeing about 5.1 on the 0-60. My launches got better, 4.8 was the norm. Found fuse 11 and Traction contol limitation,4.6 0-60. Then I added an AFE Stage 2 intake, 180 degree thermostat and a 93 octane CAI Diablo tune for a couple hundred bucks and got 4.3's

Dont underestimate the old dude in the 4 door.

Good luck to you Gen 5 guys, I know your car will have some secrets coming out soon enough.

I read the article in the magazine, and I have no problem with the Mustang winning.. all 3 cars are great cars it really just comes down to which one you want more over the others..

That said, one thing I noticed is in their "points" scale some of the places where the mustang scored higher than the camaro doesn't completely make sense, such as their stupid "gotta have it" where the mustang scored a 22/25 vs the Camaro's 21/25? From what I have seen by the general public and pretty much everywhere, the Camaro is the Gotta have it car today.. so this could be considered my opinion, but the camaro should have scored a 24 or 25. Other things like exterior styling, which i know is subjective, but going by every other comparison test out there, they all say the Camaro is a looker, the mustang is..well another mustang. So While the mustang won by their "points" scale, I don't beleive it should have won by as much as it did.I guess a lot of people are just getting their panties in a bunch because Car and Driver didn't agree with EVERY other comparison out there. But who cares.. Pick the car you want and buy it. They all have their strong points and are all great cars..that said, Camaro it is for me!

Eh, who's to say it's an advantage anymore. "break-ins" are almost a thing of the past now honestly.

Everyone loves to focus on 0-60mph (which has a lot to do with launch skill and traction).
But if you look at the 0-100mph and 0-140mph times you can see that the Camaro SS dominates the Mustang GT. Once you get above 60mph, the Camaro SS just walks away from the Mustang.

Camaro SS, 0-100mph = 10.7 sec
MustangGT, 0-100mph = 12.3 sec

Camaro SS, 0-140mph = 22.3 sec
MustangGT, 0-140mph = 34.2 sec

True enough. Maybe some folks get to enjoy their cars frequently at speeds between 100 and 140. But for me in my daily commute, it's mostly 0-50 type stuff. So the 100+ stuff is nice for bragging rights, but not real meaningful to my driving enjoyment. YMMV...

Hey, could you get the same numbers for the Challenger R/T and SRT(0-100, 0-140, etc)? I tried to find 'em but had no luck.
