First off 97SS your're an idiot for using ehow as your point of reference. I have the California Criminal Code and Vehcile Code in front of me as I post this and there is no law requiring car dealerships to mount a front license plate bracket. The law requires the owner/operator to have a front license plate on and the responsiblity falls on the registered owner of the vehicle.

Here is the California Vehicle Code right off the DMV website: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d05/vc11713_17.htm

If you read it states "either of the following must occur" in which case I chose #2

Secondly you don't know who I am so don't insult me and presume I don't know my job. Next time do your research and get your facts straight before you tell people that its the law. Oh yeah, and no hard feeling you moron.
Really? Come on... I read every reply " YOU" asked for in this thread. Going to call someone an Idiot for replying with something you didn't like or agree with? Really? They drilled the holes when you asked them not to. Pissed? Absolutely. Everything from yelling and calling someone names to just walk away? Stressed because its not the "original" paint? Too Much. Get it fixed and enjoy the car. Why make the issue more than it is? You obviously have a roof over your head, food on your table, and THANK GOD the ability to even pay for a 60k car. Stress over non-original paint? Count your blessings and move on. Enjoy your car. Its not the end of the world. This is not "hate" or "troll" advice. Just as you asked for a response you are going to get what you ask for. Idiot is not appropriate. Thank you is more in line.

Hey look, I get it, I should have not used "idiot" but he insulted me at every post, said i didnt do my research, didnt know my job, and told me to get real. I respect everyone's opinion here but dont insult me and tell me I dont know my job when no one here knows what I have gone through at my job to be here.

And Cosmo, its kind of funny and contradicting at the same time that your're calling me out on this when you just lectured me for something that I posted and now you dont like or agree with (hence the bold in your quote). And no I dont have to thank him for anything when he insists I dont know what I am talking about and him giving wrong factual information.

But nontheless Cosmo, you are right about the name calling. 97SS, i apoligize for calling you an idiot.
And Cosmo, I am so happy for you that you received your car EXACTLY how you wanted it. Congrats.

Another option

I know this sucks and would make me puke but here is how my buddy cured his CTS-V he bought used.

http://bumperplugs.com/products.html

Small, cheap, retains 99.8% of your factory paint, and literally from 5 feet out is invisible.

I'm a body man and I recommended he got this route vs. getting into the color-match dance with his white pearl car.

Not to be the bad news guy but unless you live in his state and have first hand knowledge of the laws I don't think you can comment on this. I know for a fact there are guys who buy cars in PA so they don't get the ohio front plate holder on their cars. I also know you can request anything you want not to be put on your car. What if you just wanted to put it in a museum? What if you have a custom from plate holder? What if you want to put it on your hood? Yah get the point?

I'm Not contradicting anything. Your OP was for an opinion. I'm not insulting you. I don't even know you. I'm not in the habit of taking the time to sit down and actually write words that are insulting or derogatory to anyone. What good is that? Behind a computer? Useless. I'm just so tired of the negativity that is pervading this site. When you ask for an opinion? Your going to get anything from "fire the guy that did it" to "Walk away and tell'em "Put your own words here", To "Make them fix it and forget about it, enjoy that sweet sweet car." Thats all I'm saying. Ask for an opinion your going to get one. Take them all for what they are. Opinions. I'm in the practice of ignoring the "Negative" posts directed my way. I am who I am and let the others who read the thread decide. At the end of the day its my friends and family who matter. Not someone I don't even know at the end of a computer keyboard. My entire point? You just bought the SWEETEST car produced. Enjoy it. Every right to be angry and upset at the dealer. Every right. But don't let it stop you from the bigger picture. THE ZL1!!! It's just my opinon and really don't want you to be offended. Really.

If you don't want to be surprised, then you write on your order "do not install front plate". Hopefully they read it when they do the PDI. This only lowers the probability though as you might not be dealing with teh best and brightest people sometimes. How many times did dealers skip removing the spacers for example, even though it's in they "to do" list for PDI?

The plugs worked for the CTS-V. Pics in a bit.

Compared to violating the paint and trying to get the little intricacies on that cover scufed correctly they were a God-send.

Regarding the original Q, you can ask them to replace the bumper with a new one. Unfortunately everytime someone other than the factory paints anything, it might come out bad. I talk from personal experience...I took another car to Porsche in Willoughby, OH to be painted - I thought they're the best - at least they charge the most, they had a booth made in germany, etc - and they did a SHITTY job. I had to go back to get it repolished and it's still not perfect. So, be careful what you ask for....

.

Get your drill and go by the manager's house and see what he has in the garage...

I'm not saying that's what you should do, but that's what it would make me WANT to do.

I hope it gets sorted out. I think they should have to order you a replacement bumper.
