Interesting point. And the performance stats for these two are remarkably close. The C63 however costs TWICE as much as the ZL1. I guess the subjective experience of being behind the wheel of these two was quite different for the MT testers. Others have said it before: the camaro 'feels' big...

I think it boils down to having the maturity to admit there are flaws.

I spent 56,xxx on a car that should have bigger tires and that's the only SRA non-truck choice in its segment.

I'll leave the ZL1 admissions to you guys

It's not about performance numbers yet they're running timed laps and complaining about weight figures. From a buyers perspective, BDC is about as useful as manufacturer propaganda (11's all day stock and 200mph top speed, for example). It's baseless and subjective. Thanks MT for wasting 5 minutes of my day so that I could read your article.
I don't think they do a good enough job of articulating the reasons for their rankings. They say that they rank based more on the 'subjective' experience of driving the cars but when it comes to making the fine distinctions BETWEEN the cars for the rankings you are left scratching your head after reading their descriptions. And as far as the Subaru BRZ is concerned, who the f**k cares?

I was impressed that the GT500 turned a better track time than the 911.

7th - Ford Shelby GT500
6th - Chevy Camaro ZL1
5th - McLaren MP4-12C

2nd - Mercedes-Benz C63
1st - Porsche 911 Carrera S

We may have beat the GT500, but this quote really hurts "It's slower than the Shelby, makes less power, and turned in a worse lap time. Not only that, but we were in unanimous agreement that the Shelby and its quicker turn-in was more fun to drive."
The fact that a Camaro is competing with cars of this level is AMAZING!!

I did agree with this statement. The Shelby was more fun. The Boss was more fun. Heck an M3 was more fun. Then I drove the ZL1 convertible. Fun. Big time stupi smile on my face fun. Totally adds what the ZL1 was lacking by simply removing the roof. Amazing, amazing car.

No dispute there. My problem is selective discrimination. The ZL1 is not the only heavyweight in this competition.

You're negative, deal with it we do.

Didn't watch the final episode, however I'm somewhat surprised at the rankings after seeing all of Randy's "real time" driving impressions. They don't quite balance out.

Ouch is right. If the GT500 had better brakes, then a live axle car with Blinstein suspension would have beat a IRS magnetic ride car.

If if if... What if the zl1 had more power? We could bench race all day! ;-)

Well it did post better lap times. It just wasn't picked as the better "drivers" car. So if you care about performance then the GT500 has the numbers.

The GT500 does have the better numbers, it has almost 100 more HP and has less weight.
No one can argue that.
