I know that, and have never denied it. I will spend the rest of my life in sorrow, penance and spreading the message to not drink and drive. But let's not forget that speed kills too. And there are many members on the forum who do race on city streets, and I tell them the same thing.........

I'm not going to lecture you on what you did.. As you said. You have to live with that knowledge the remainder of your life. I can kinda understand people on here going off on you like they are, but, I'd be willing to bet that a great deal of people reading this have done monumentally stupid things at one point or another in their lives.. Most just get lucky and never really hurt or kill anyone. It's truly hypocritical the way society acts towards those that lose that dice roll. Yes, drinking and driving is illegal and dangerous.. But, those of you getting self-righteous better have 100% clean slates yourselves before you start chastising this person -- otherwise, you're just an internet tough guy hypocrite. There have been many people on here admitting to excessive (trip digit) speeding, racing, etc... |

The guy who admits to having caused a loss of life is a rare thing to see, and unfortunately will probably be ignored, and his lessons learned unheeded by others for the most part...Peace! |

Thankfully, the Pharmacist, doing his job caught the error and it was corrected before it left the building. He pulled me aside later and informed me that had the bottle left written with that error, that infant would have died from starvation as the anti-biotic killed off all the helpful bacteria. That infant got lucky that day and I wasn't right for a week.... |

Keep in mind that speeding kills a lot of people too. I just had a friend who was speeding and went flying off a curb and hit a building. He died unfortunately. Finally, I'm sure that many of us on this forum have gotten behind the wheel of a car at one time or another after they'd been drinking. So I ask all to not do it anymore. If you're going to drink then get a designated driver or take a cab. Being responsible for someone's life is not easy to live with. So regardless of what people think and say about me, I'm going to continue to preach not to drink and drive and not to race either........ |

People generally don't listen to the maybes and could be statements. They're written off as inflammatory and exaggerations of possible outcomes. It's only when the outcomes occur when people start to listen. As you stated. Your intent is to reach others, so maybe, just maybe, this story will resonate in their minds at some point -- hopefully at the cusp of a bad decision and a life or lives will be spared at that juncture. By the way, fellow Camaro5 people, you can be "under the influence" as well just by taking certain medications -- even prescription ones and be cited as such if you're caught. There's a reason many medications talk about using heavy machinery on their warning labels... So, don't think it's just drunk drivers that can kill. It's truly a sad consequence of the nature of time that we can't tell who has been saved before by someone admitting fault in a meeting, a speech, a program or just to a friend. Any one of us could be alive today from an incident that never occurred because someone spoke up about and admitted to their past. |
