Sound quality on CD's is just better. I blame layered audio. But the MP3's are continually improving...

FYI: My work car is a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue. It has both a tape deck and a CD player. It has both because they were tansitioning during that period. As I said several posts ago, CD's have been around since the mid-80's. There are better options than having to haul around a dump truck full of plastic discs and risk them getting scratched (MP3's hold 1,000's of songs and it fits in your pocket). It is now 2012 and I doubt anybody is going apeshit over the fact that absolutely NO cars come with a tape deck anymore. Time moves on. If it did not, we'd still be listening to radio shows on the Ole Victrola and be riding around in a buckboard wagon being pulled by two mules instead of driving around in these cars. If you still want that tech, go buy a Delorean and install a Flux Capacitor.
Hmm...you put words in my mouth, wanna throw around some insults...and I'm the troll huh?

It's getting better, but the CD still has the best quality.

As I said before, I drum alot and have my whole life. I've worked with MP3 files and CDs, and the sound quality on a CD is just better. It won't always be that way, but it is right this second.

The system in the camaro's is underwhelming to say the least. The best stock system I have ever heard is my current daily driver a volkswagen with a dynaudio system in it. I have dynaudio speakers in my home theater system they are excellent. Like almost all stock systems I could build a ten times better sounding system for the money they charge for the upgraded offerings. Just having good clean power makes a world of difference.

Not including a CD player will cost them sales. I guarantee that.

Bad decision.
Yup. That's why when i get my SS i'll be looking at a 2010-2012. CD players will always be my #1 choice. I can't listen to some watered down MP3 quality, 320kbps is an exception only, only because it doesn't sound like garbage compared to a 128kbps

I am agreeing with you that CDs sound better that's is 50% the reason this thread was made but I'm just saying even though the CDs sound better they will become obsolete on all cars pretty soon (like 10 years max) hopefully MP3 will be better by then.... I'm just saying not having a CD player shouldn't be your main reason not to buy a car and eventually whether you like it or not you are probably going to have to convert if you continue to purchase new cars.... It sucks sometimes because the better thing does become obsolete for something that isn't as good it's just what is easier and more desirable for the customer and that is what determines is what is sold

And as of right now I think GM is making bad choice by getting rid of CD players.... For now, in 10 years its gonna be a different story

That's all I have been trying to say all afternoon.

And as you can see from some of the posts, already there are people who won't buy a car with no player.

It simply isn't time for this transition yet. Tech has already been developed that is at least 10 years ahead of the stuff we use now...but it's not on the market because everyone knows consumers change at a much slower pace.

Ohhh ok sorry for the confusion! But yeah I agree they will lose sales and for some companies it wouldn't matter because they make enough profit to compensate for the lost sales due to not having a radio but GM can't afford to be losing sales especially over something so small like a CD player.... The CD player needs to stay in a few more years in the Camaros in my opinion

And sometimes the better thing comes along...and doesn't catch on, like SACD and DVD-Audio. They both BLOW AWAY a CD.
