Its always sad and disappointing when a relationship between a car owner and dealer ends.

Broken trusts; unexpected/inappropriate behavior. You'll be tempted to attempt a reconciliation some nights after drinking, thinking it was all your fault, but it wasn't. You just have to move on and so do they. If you see someone from the dealer driving past your house late at night, don't wait for it to become a constant problem: call the police immediately. Its none of their business where you're taking your car now or if you're happy without them.

A clean break is always best.

Call BS all you want, but they do. I wasn't unreasonable about anything. I'm an ex-dealer service manager, and I know how to approach them.

In my case, an unscrupulous body shop manager was charging the new-car department for their repeat repairs. The new-car department shut that off, and the body shop manager wouldn't take the hit for the repeat work that need to be done. Keep in mind, it was warrantable work under GM's policies.

Anyway, I got shafted, and they got a BBB case in their lap. My only goal was to make the body shop manager accountable for his crappy ethics. It worked.

BTW, GM was involved and did a great job of mediating and keeping me notified about what was happening. Their customer service was A+.

I gotta side with the OP on this one. Happened to me at Potamkin Chevrolet in NYC back in 2001, when I brought my 2000 Camaro SS there for service. I made an appointment weeks ahead, and they basically let my car sit for 2 days without working on it, and made no apologies for it. The work was related to an A/C leak which was causing water to pool in the passenger footwell. When they finally looked at it, they tried to charge me for the work - and when I called the Chevy customer assistance number for help, the dealer told me to come get the car and never come back.

Their "story" was that I was abusive and used obscene language when I spoke to them - and it was just that, a story.

I gladly took their advice, and I had great luck with a dealer in Queens who took great care of me after that.
