BTW, since I see you are in England, let me screw your head up even more:

For us in the "states", not all pick-ups/SUV's/Jeeps are called "utility vehicles".. even though they all could be deemed as such.
  • Open bed truck = Pick-up (long-bed/short-bed.. doesn't matter)
  • SUV's = Usually a 4-door enclosed, 4x4 (though not always 4x4). Crossovers/small SUV's/Large SUV's fall into this category. (BMW X3/X5, Chevy Tahoe, Ford Explorer/Expedition/Excursion)
  • "Merc" = Mecury... NOT Mercedes Benz
  • Mercedes or Benz = Mercedes Benz
  • Boot = something I wear on my feet
  • Trunk = the rear part of my car that I put my groceries/duffle bags/dead bodies in
  • Bonnet = something that old ladies and Amish women wear on their heads (see hat)
  • Hood = the large panel on the front of most autos/trucks that covers where the engine goes
  • Roof = the thing that convertibles don't have. Also, the thing I smack my head on if I hit that speed bump too hard
  • Yoot (Ute) = what a person from New York/New Jersey calls someone under the age of 18. (See the movie "My Cousin Vinny")

That's funny. My wife is American, and we still laugh at each others "stoopid" ways of saying stuff. Just today, she said what I thought was "skwirl", but what she really meant was squiRRel.

lol.... "Seekrit Skwirl" to the rescue!!!

Have to admit that I get most of my exposure to "The Queen's English" from all the British TV I watch..

Even then, sometimes the references and lingo get a bit thick.

Took me about 4 hours to watch "The Full Monty" for the first time because I had to pause the movie so I can google the "local" slang that was being used to I could pick up on the jokes.

I had a 72' El Camino back in the day,it was great.

GM sold a ton of them.Even the late 80's models in good shape are starting to command some bigger bucks these days.

I heard somewhere GM was toying with the idea of bringing them back?

If it was like the Ute and had LS power,I'd get one in a second.
