I wore seat belts long before they were mandatory and don't believe someone else has a right to jeopardize my life on purpose.
If he lost control to where he was thrown out of the car (that WOULD be why he wouldn't be able to regain control, right?) then the accident would have been pretty bad anyway. If the car flipped & threw him out, he probably could not gained control even if he DID remain in the vehicle.

Looking at it this way, his "not wearing a seat belt" would NOT be the reason he lost control and/or jeopardized you life.

Maybe if you explain how you saw this in action, then I'd understand your statement better....

I DRIVE AN AUTOMATIC RIGHT NOW AND HAVE NEVER ACTUALLY OWNED A MANUAL, BUT I DO KNOW HOW TO DRIVE ONE

Look, I did not mean my post as a slam on auto drivers. Not at all. I am simply saying that automatics lower the bar for entry. It is more difficult to drive a manual car. You cannot argue that. Therefore people have to focus more and actually UNDERSTAND what the car is doing. You can easily do this if you are driving an automatic but you don't HAVE TO like you do if you're driving a manual.

I do have to say that driving a manual does keep you more in touch with the road and the skill of driving. It gives you more control over your acceleration and deceleration, and for those who only drive auto's, you have no right to criticize until you learn how to drive both and see the difference. And I am sure someone will call me out that only knows how to drive an auto and LIE about having driven a stick, for the sake of disagreeing. Well, be defensive or insulted all you want, fact is if you never driven a manual, you have never driven. All of my cars are manual and I would purposely not buy a car unless it came with manual.

I go crazy when I rent cars, and yes they ARE harder to control. They shift into a higher gear too fast and do not take in account what is in front of you. I purposely let the car rev higher in traffic, why because YOUR FIRST BREAK IS TAKING YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS, and when you are in a higher gear the car travels forward and you loose your engine breaking capability in higher gears. I have 90,000 Miles on my Honda CR-V, I sit in NY City traffic at 7AM and 5PM everyday and I have yet to replace the Brakes....and the dealer says they still have meat on them.....now that is due to my manual and learning how to properly drive a car. The auto does propel you forward not taking anything else but RPM or revs into consideration.......that sucks in my opinion.

So you know, with all that milage and driving I do, I have not had an insurance claim (except theft, vandalism, and others hitting my parked car) since 1990, knock on wood.

So I get you, and agree with you UCf, and most people would FAIL at a driving test in a manual FOR SURE.

THIS IS NOT A POKE AT ALL AUTO DRIVERS, JUST A FACT, LIKE IT OR NOT.

Here is my favorite line I like to say to people,
"You DRIVE a manual but, you RIDE IN an auto".
Thanks. Exactly what I was trying to say.

"
Huh?
There's no "legitimate" reason but when you're hit from the rear (unless your backing up on a major hi-way) you pretty much don't have any say in the matter! And the speed you get hit, you don't have much say in that either!?!
And if you are stopped behind someone and get hit at speed above 15 mph, its a good chance your going to plow into the person in front of you, whether you have your brakes on or not. The higher the speed, the greater the chance you'll hit your head on something if your not wearing your seatbelt, cause the air bag going to knock you around too!
ANd that assumes a dead-on rear end hit. Get hit from a different angle and you'll be sore from whacking the door panel, shifter, console, etc.
But its your choice of course, its your a$$....just hoping you don't have the same insurance company as me paying out your claims. I really value my hard earned $$$$, oh and yea, my life.

People not moving to the right on multilane roadways is a major pain.
And while i'm at it up here we have special licenses that allow some people to run down the right shoulder and on/off ramps when traffic is at a crawl....just makes me want to pull over unexpectedly...i need a new van anyway.

Thank goodness that guy's wife is okay.

And it does prove that GM really made the Camaro safe. Way to go GM!

I think I would be too angry to even speak if this happened to my new Camaro. I would be at what do they call it? Oh "crime of passion" murder type anger. That is if they ever ship my car to me.

This reminds me of a small sticker I have that says, "Some people are still alive only because it is against the law to kill them."

I hate to see anyone go through something like this with their new Camaro. And all of the Camaro involved crashes i've seen on here so far have been the cause of the other driver.

Watch this video and then go back and read your comment. While the reason the driver crashes is another stupid human trick behind the wheel (falling asleep) he can't regain control because...well watch the video folks.

And for those who don't think their passengers need to buckle up here's another....

And lastly for those who drink and drive I'll leave you with this one

Videos are not for the faint of heart.

Yeah, it's tough for them to whip out those specially-designed seatbelt cutters and make two swift cuts...

Passing on the right is illegal unless the road is at least 3 lanes wide.
