Seems like most people that are getting manuals are of the "OMG, Camaro = Manual or bust" type, and the people who ordered autos feel obligated to defend their decision... as if driving a manual is the "manly" thin to do or something... what's the deal, here? I even get guff from a couple of my friends about it. It's kind of annoying, actually. The auto will still lay the smack down on any car in its class. Personally, I don't find shifting gears to be "fun"... I actually find it a bit tedious. Maybe I'm lazy, I dunno. But I also don't like the "jerky" back-and-forth feeling you get from a manual (seems less noticeable when you're the one driving though). Add in the fact that this will be my daily driver, 25-mile commute (one-way) to work every day, and lots of rush-hour traffic jams (as well as city driving for lunch)... and shifting will just get old real quick. I have faith that my car will put me in the most efficient gear when necessary. After all... its 1/4-mile is within .1 sec of the manual, isn't it? Sounds pretty damn good to me.

Why should this have to be explained every time someone finds out you ordered the auto? No one gets this bent out of shape when you order a sandwich with no mayo...

"WHAT?! No mayo??? EVERY sandwich has to have mayo, otherwise it's not a REAL sandwich!!!"

Thanks Dustin you rock! I mean seriously. If it was that much of a big deal, I would learn to drive manual, even if I am rough with it. Why the f*** should I force myself to learn. Not one person told me I should of gotten manual. One person did ask me why I got an Auto, when I told them the reason, they said good enough for me. You have to be really good at stick to not get that jerking feeling but you still get a little bit of it.

That was a real immature thing to say. If you want a war, you will get one.

I agree with you and BrianGriffin, get what's right for you! Nothing wrong with an automatic. If I had to deal with a lot of traffic, I'd definitely have gotten one!

Oddly enough, I got a WTF?? reaction when I decided to order a manual! "Man, you're going to be shifting a lot!" "Why the heck do you want a stick shift???" "An auto would be faster on the track!" This is from my husband (age 41) and my brother (age 37), who are major car guys and drag race. Admittedly, a manual probably will hurt my times at the track since I am not an experienced racer, but that's not why I wanted it. Although the husband and bro' do both prefer limited-slip diff.

You will get more HP with a manual.

Thanks for that post. Some people here are really ticking me off like saying Auto muscle cars should be banned. If you got manual, all I would say is that's cool, I prefer Auto but manual is just as good in my eyes. They are both Camaros, lol.

I am not going to be racing anyone with this car so the extra HP does not really make it attracted to me. It is a crusing car to blast the music with the windows down and get the car over 100mph once and awhile.

Manual, Age 46, because I feel like something is missing when I drive an automatic (unless I'm stuck in a traffic jam).

I thought about the manual, they are a lot of fun. But after years of driving them in Dallas traffic, I think I will stick with the Auto. I plan on keeping this car for awhile.

my opinion get over it.

To me if this car is going to be a congested city everyday driver then yeah the auto makes sense. But if your like most people who drives these cars, a manual is must. More HP, better gas mileage, and you can do a lot more with a manual. In my opinion putting autos in cars like the corvette or camaro ruins them.

Having an opinion is one thing, but making a statement like that is over the top. I see you are learning since you put in my opinion in your latest post. Don't trash on someone's decision just because your opinion is different. I don't trash on the folks who got manual. Your statement was an insult to folks who have Auto.
