I am going to pick a color I like and have my car shrinkwrapped like the advertisment cars you see. That way if it gets scratched I just have it peeled and rewraped. I am also thinking about laminating it too. Then I just hose it off and it will look good as new.

Don't forget to pickle it too! I hear that's a great way to preserve things.

Update

Took the car down to the dealer this morning and waited until I could talk with someone. They were very annoyed and told me I'll have to wait until the GM rep comes in sometime in the next month to look at the car and authorize under warranty. Then the owner comes out and is rude as hell to me. "What's the problem here.." After rubbing the dust all over my car to look at the scratches they left, (thank you for those NEW fine scratches) he gruffly says he'll place a call to the GM rep today.

We'll see how this ends up. I asked them to call me after they spoke with the GM rep so I'll have an idea when they will be coming to assess the problem. My guess is I'll never hear a word.

In the meantime, clear bra is on hold and I'm risking rock chips if I drive it on the highway.

I'll take more pix in the next couple days so everyone can see the affects of "leaving it in the sun". What a joke.

DUDE!!
Seriously, I don't want to see you get jerked around. Here's an idea!
Go to ANOTHER Chevy dealership that is close by and ask to speak to the sales manager. Speak clearly and intelligently and explain to him your situation and ask him for the regional GM representative. (BE NICE & COURTEOUS and get him on your side.)
If that fails, what you're gonna have to do is, a google search and let your fingers do the "walking" as they say. Get your car fixed properly. NO NEW CAR/customer should be treated this way. They, the dealership, whether they contracted the job out or did it in-house, are responsible for your car's current state.
OK, I'm done. GOOD LUCK!!!

I've already been jerked around. For almost 3 weeks now. I'm going to another dealership this weekend for something unrelated but will try to get some help from them.

I know the first name of the GM rep they are supposedly calling so that may help. I'll just drop that name and see if they'd be willing to give me the full contact information.

I'm sick and tired and about to tear someone's freaking head off! Especially after getting the bend over treatment from the owner himself.

I will after the final resolution. I was told today that they are ordering me new stripes so it might get resolved after all. We'll see. In the meantime I'm checking with body shops about just getting them painted on!

Now you're talking. That would be the way to go my man. Plus, it would look WAY better!
GOOD LUCK!

Good luck man, I had the dealer replace my hood stripe as it was off centered. they ate the cost of paying a vendor to install 2x but oh well we paid good money for these and they should be 100%

That's what I'm going for, too. Just noticed the other day that the right side hood stripe is almost 1/2" off center. So, bubbles, scratches and off center equals one major crappy job.

That's a great help. Emailed it to the dealer.

Tomorrow I'm off to a body shop for another quote on paint. Dlr wants $1,200 to paint on stripes. Can you say...I don't think so? Also going to get an opinion on the scratches tomorrow.

Took car in for oil change today and checked on the progress of the stripes. Bottom line, they are stalling. Said they have to wait for regional rep to come three week from now to look over the situation and authorize warranty work. I can see this dragging out for two more months -- 3 weeks for regional rep, 4 weeks to order and receive replacement stripes and 1 week waiting for installation.

If next body shop quotes me a similar price -I'll just pay for another set of stripes myself, get them ordered and have someone else put them on.

I'm over this!

My car was delivered 6/25 and the stripes were back ordered and did not come with the car. GM said they did not know when they would be available. So with all of this going on, I had mine painted on. WOW what a difference from the factory. Glad they did not send them

I had a similar issue. So I got them to eventually take the hit and re-do the stripes and have them installed by an outside vendor. Then after it was done (3 weeks-ish), I took it to a body shop and had my bud remove them and paint on new stripes. One week later, I drove back to the dealership and showed them that I had the stripes painted on by the same vendor. So they ate the $2100 cost only to have it stripped off. The part they really "enjoyed" was discovering the new vendor is my brother-in-law and I got the job done for free. OWNED!!
