I am Happy!
I have been looking at this cam set up for a while. I was afraid of the drivablility with the stock converter. If it 's not bad, I will order it with ported heads and maybe change out the converter at a later date. Just woundering if I can use my SCT3 tuner for the tables or do I need to send the ECU ? I have a tuner near me but they want me to do the LS3 conversion.

I have drove it around some and there is slight bucking at lower speeds barely on the gas. It is nothing that is like whiplash or anything and not bad at all. Coming to a stop, when it downshifts you may feel a slight purge for a second but it stops normal. once stopped that is when you have to push just slightly harder on the brakes, but as you are stopping it feels normal. I will be keeping the stock converter on there and not putting a higher stall on. I feel it is fine to drive and i love it.

I did the job myself with my brother who has been in an LS engine before. I dont know if you are planning on having it done or doing it? I even went through the heads and smoothed them out with a dremel and did my own minimal port and polish.

For the tuning you can send your PCM to texas speed and they will tune it for you based on your mods. Another thing you can do since you have the SCT3, which i have never used, but you can use other named tuners to make you a tune. I know Ted Jannetty has the tables for this cam from TSP. He will make you a tune for the car.
I chose to send my PCM to texas speed so they could tune it and i could drive it and it would have the tables on it. I have a dyno shop an hour from me who seem pretty awesome and do camaros, challengers, and mustang stuff. They told me they could get the tables in and tune it but it would be way faster and easier with the tables from TSP. So i got the tables by mailing PCM and going to take it up to fine tune it on the dyno after. Seeing that you have a shop that wants you to do the conversion, i am guessing you may go the same route to get the tables.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask!

Chris
