We still have both our 2002 Camaros and the 2010. Couldn't see selling the 4th gens anytime soon, but life events sometimes is out of our hands.

As long as the current generation Camaro doesn't have t-tops, I can't sell my 4th gen. Cruising on a warm summer day (or as Scott said, even better on a warm summer night) in a hard top Camaro is just not as fun as cruising in a t-top Camaro.
PS - Scott, need to bring that beauty to Michigan and cruise it out on Woodward sometime!

So I'm concluding that one of the main pro's for the 4th gen is the T-Tops...which I have to agree is really nice when cruising on a warm summer evening.
I have a sun roof in the 2011 but honestly it's pretty much useless. T-Tops are much better.

No way I can even think about selling my Firehawk after reading Scott's post, not that I really had any intentions of doing that.

I sold my 2001 SS to get my 5th gen. I bought the 01 new and loved it. The CME exhaust was what sold me on it. I modded it it (Cam/heads/gears/etc) and had a lot of fun with it, but I just got bored of it. I drove my Grand Cherokee far more than I did my SS. Sometimes when I see a real nice 4th Gen (they seem to have disappeared from my area) I get a little nostalgic about it, but my new car is far more enjoyable to drive. The thing I really miss about the car is the sound of the cammed LS1, but that's only because my 5th gen is stock.

I miss my 00' v6 firebird(drove me all around the country) until I put my foot down in the SS and I forget about it all together.

I miss my 4th gen for the T-Tops mainly. They were awesome, much better than a sunroof, with no downsides of a convertible.
I miss the looks of it to, lower to the ground, sleeker, hatchback with no little a pillar window or w/e you call it. I liked that it was lighter, and cheaper to mod haha. I grew up with that car and loved it. |

My first car was an '88 Fiero GT. Sold it... missed it. Ended up buying another, which is currently sitting in the barn collecting dust 250 miles away. Have been entertaining the idea of selling this one - So I would have to agree with those that say the memory is better than the reality. If I had the car locally, I would likely drive it more frequently, but I certainly understand your dilemma. If you can afford to keep it - why not? If selling it would let you move onto bigger and better things in your life - I would say sell it.

I always wanted a 4th Gen, so I added a 01 ws6 last fall. I like driving it better than the 5th gen. Not sure why, lol.

I do miss my '97 z/28 even though it was an LT1. I had 4.10 gears and that thing took off like a beast! For me it's definitely nostalgia though. I was in college at the time and cruising in the Camaro was the best, plus I was one of the only guys who could drive stick.
I had an '86 Berlinetta in High School. LOL. Fixed it up and made it a nice ride. Just really loved owning that as a teenager. It certainly wasn't fast, but the holes in the exhaust made it sound great

I will always have my 4th gen. Its rarely ever driven, maybe 300 miles in the last 2 years if that, but when I want to drive it its there, and when I dont wanna drive it, its not hurting anything sitting there. I still get an uncontrollable grin on my face when I do get to drive it.
If its not burdening financially to keep it, and if you were on the fence at all about selling, I would just keep it. Once its gone, its gone. Sure you can buy another if you felt you made a mistake selling, but nice low mile 4th gens are still expensive. |
