Auto for me.

Went through this same exact thing. I had a C5 Vette MN6 and it was a blast to drive, but the manual did get old at times after a couple years. (And it was a toy, not DD)

Went auto in my SS and do not miss the manual at all. With a Jannetty tune I'm chirping 2nd and 3rd in sport mode and it's a blast.

But as everyone else said, try and drive both. And don't judge an "untuned" automatic...it's a completely different car tuned!

Good luck!

If my Camaro was a "weekend warrior"... it would be a manual. Since it isn't... I love the A6.

I've driven a manual car for 7 years now. Now that I commute to school I sit in stop and go traffic every day both ways. I would never give up driving a manual. I actually swapped a M22 into my Chevelle instead of the factory auto trans.

I keep saying I'm not getting another manual drive, unfortunetly those are only words. I had my 350Z M6 for 5+ years and my SS M6 for the last two and would still buy a manual today (I'm 58 years old) and do not want the auto. I do have other vehicles - all auto. Everyone was right, a manual in traffic stinks big time!!!!! If I was to have only one car it would be auto with paddle shifters!!!!!

L99 here, don't want the hassles of a clutch. (for me, it is a hassle)

May not like the AFM, but oh well, I will take it if it bothers me too much, I will tune it out..

Wouldn't give up the remote start for the LS3. SO nice to start it up in the winter and go out to cleared windows, and it already warmed and ready to go.

having owned a l99 for over a year and now the ls3..........The ls3 is without a doubt more fun to drive though can be annoying in traffic and more responsive feeling and feels faster, and i never liked the paddles............

My opinion of course here. I love the LS3 M6. I never get sick of shifting gears. To me this car begs a manual trans. Nothing like winding out the gears and shifting. Down shifting ready to over take the car in front of me.

I had the LT with an automatic. To me it was boring even after i did the C.A.I. and MRT-V2 exhaust. Yea it was a little bit more fun to drive with those mods and paddle shifting but not long after that i got bored with it.

I don't drive in traffic much, but have and a manual still doesn't bother me.

I'm an old school guy i really like the manual a lot but i have to admit the paddle shifters are growing on me. My one knee is not the same as it once was from working in a auto plant for 16 years so i can see my manual days are coming to a end.

You can't spell manual with out man.
Your way over thinking it. Just get the manual and live with your decision.
My first car was a 4 banger Vega. Every auto I owned after that I pretended to shift gears in. With my Camaro I don't have to pretend anymore.
I love it!

Muscle cars = manual.
Extra 26 hp = manual.
Men drive = manual.
More fun to drive = manual
Additional visceral feel = manual.

Sent from a Galaxy S3, far....far away.

Just got my beater over the weekend and flip flopped for weeks deciding if I wanted to go back to a truck or upgrade to an SS since most of my DD will be in this little malibu now. I'm going to look at a 2010 2SS/RS tomorrow night, it may be a little more than I want to spend though.

My question is this, what are the advantages of the LS3 over the L99? Everyone on this site seems to eat it up, but both my dad and my uncles owned muscle cars back when they were big in the 60's and 70's, and they said owning a manual is fun until the new wears off and you'll be sick of it. My dad said he learned to drive a manual first but when he got his Corvettes he always went auto even though he knew how to work them. He said get whichever you want, some people love manuals but I'm afraid you'll get tired of having one.

My 2LT/RS is pretty unique looking and loaded to the gills, and I'm looking to trade for a 2010 with a little more miles (30's) within 2-3000 dollars tops. For those of you with an LS3, do you ever get tired of the stick? Or those of you with an L99, did you ever regret NOT getting an LS3?

Thanks in advance
you will get lots of good advice here...i think you should try and test drive both cars it will be your decision ..it will all come down to what gives you the biggest smile
