Me too! I thought for sure that it would bounce it back and tell me to pick a new name. Thanks for the welcome!

It's great to be around fellow enthusiasts. (Gotta tell ya, I've always been partial to the ponies...but after the unveiling of the 5th gen, I've definitely been converted!)

All remote functions (door locks/alarm, trunk release, panic button, remote start) are integrated into the keyfob. There's a picture of it somewhere.
Do we know this for sure?

Sorry I don't get the fasination with the "lady man" thing.

1) observation from a previous set of spy shots, possibly confirmed by someone. not sure on that
2) from transformers this past summer

Speaking of push button starters. Just addressed on Automotive News.

Quote:

The question "Where are my car keys?" hasn't left the building just yet, but is being shown to the door. Why? The arrival of push-button starters and smart cards in an increasing number of automobiles. Now that Nissan and Toyota have added button-starters to their high end Altima and Camry models, well, you know what that means: soon everyone's going to have them.

The tech-ification of starting your car is supposed to have at least two winners: car designers and consumers. Designers can put the starter buttons anywhere and even make them part of the car's appeal, like Jaguar has done on the new XF with a starter button that pulses like a heartbeat when you get in. Consumers will get a key that does more than just turn on the car, like adjust your seat and mirrors, turn on the heat, and treat you to free In-N-Out burgers. Ok, so not really on the In-N-Out thing. That's the next generation.

Losers -- if there really are any -- would be the folks who make keys and cylinders, and the consumers who lose their smart cards. Though key makers will lose some business, there are still plenty of cars around the world without push-button starters. For those who lose their smart cards, the locksmith and AAA won't help you any more: a $250 check to your dealer's parts department, plus labor, will be in order. In the new world, convenience, like almost everything else, will cost a bit more.

Edit: Whoops!! Sterling! You just said something about what I'm talking about!!
Actually, I was kinda joking about the car knowing who I am and all of that....kinda like that KITT comment. Would be cool, but nevah gonna happen.

On the other hand, smartcards, like TRAN said, would be something that interests me. Just a simple card, or key fob type deal, that goes in your pocket. Now, unlocking automatically when you walk near is not cool in my book. I'd much rather have to push a button to open the door. That's fine by me. It really is that safety thing. But, push a button and doors unlock. Get in, push another button and bam...car is on. That'd work for me.

But on the other hand, a key works just fine too...and keeps the cost down. Either way, I'm happy.

It's More Retro to Turn a key ?

In that case we should put a crank in front of the car!

But seriously, I really don't mind either push button or traditional key. As long as it looks great and drives even better, that's all I care about!

LadiesMan217, where are the glasses?

There's no button start because there are so many more important things. Having a button start feature is far less important than having all the other amenities that make this car great. If you really really want a button start, you can get it installed at a custom car shop.

Turn-key starting seems more like American muscle. I prefer it over a push-button. Also, it will help keep prices down.

I found RX-7 installation instructions for button start. This is proof that you can do it yourself with a little time, money, and effort. Plus, it'll make yours unique.
