The Eurospec Camaros (along with every other car sold in Europe that I know of) are not rated in US horsepower, they are rated in the metric based pferdestarke (PS) which translates to ... horsepower. It is also known as DIN horsepower or metric horsepower. It is 1.4% less than the commonly used HP unit in North America. There have been a handful of threads over the last few years that have mentioned the 432/405 'hp' Camaros. They're rare, but they're out there.

Does the Euro-spec Camaro have more horsepower than the US model, or is it just the way they rate horsepower. According to the article the camaro SS has 432 hp for the manual, and the automatic has 405 hp.

You guys need to understand that chasis dyno numbers fluctuate TOO much to be a basis for comparing the way you are using it. Lets say you test 100 engines per SAE standards at the same time and they all make the exact same HP. Install all 100 into identical cars and then dyno test them on the same chasis dyno in an enclosed environment so they all have the same air conditions, guess what...everyone of those engines will vary from one another. Chasis dynos are not accurate enough to do this type of caparison.
If your cars dynos stock 25 more hp than mine it does not mean you are making 425HP and mine still makes 400HP (L99), the engines if we took them out of the cars and on a chasis dyno would be within a few HP of each other. Chasis dyno are for TUNING and GENERAL comparison to get an idea of gains, HP & torque curves and NOTHING MORE.

"1 SAE-PS = 1,014 DIN-PS = 0,7457*kW" And yes, our LS3 does not have the "skip shift". Only models similar to the US 2SS/RS are available officially in the EU. To get a V6, 1LE, ZL1 you need to get an export from thr US. We have different side mirrors, different style rear bumpers and LED tail lights, no roof antenna, a HID light washing system, towing hooks, no SS logos, Hurst Short shifter is standard, lockable gas tank, metric dials, standard wheels are bright silver and not midnight silver,... and it is limited to 1000 coupes and 1000 convertibles per year for whole Europe. Prices vary between 40,000€ to over 100,000€ for the 2SS/RS in different Europpean countries mostly because of different taxes. Cheers from Germany Michael But I expect the 2014 EU model being much more similar to the US model. |

A bit off topic and don't mean to hi-jack but since the article was from Germany. Not sure if this is still true perhaps Michael R can tell us but no SS badging in Germany (unless brought in from somewhere)

Yes "official" EU Camaros do not come with any SS badgea or stitching from the factory because of the historical reasons mentioned in the linked article above. We also cannot get the letters "SS" on personolized license plates (among others...).
But we also have aome US imports which of course have the SS badges as well as some owners fitting SS badges on their EU models. Many kids won't even know the historical German meaning of "SS" today. Cheers Michael |

Who cares if they're pushing more than 2010-12 camaros? 15hp? Thats NOTHING to brag about. I want a 50+HP NA upgrade over SS factory built and not cost an arm or leg and weight no more than 50 lbs over an SS.

well considering the tail lights are the same as the US model I think we found the real reason for the tail light change - to cut down on part numbers ....

I'm thinking that there is no cats required and a better flowing unrestricted exhaust.
